OH BOY! OH BOY!

It's a BOY!!!!

Yesterday, we had our big ultrasound appointment.  The technician that we LOVE was training another woman, who we will learn to love :).  We were SO excited for our appointment... it was the longest day ever waiting for it!

All along, Eddie was convinced it was a girl, or so he said.  As soon as they told us it was a boy, Eddie let out a huge whoop!  He said he would have been thrilled either way, but he was psyching himself up for a girl so he would be excited, but secretly he really really wanted a boy. :)

The trainee rolled over my belly and the usual technician said quickly: "I know what it is!"  Well, that let us know right away what it was!  It had to be a boy to see the "pecker" that easily... she waited until the trainee found it on her own and then they announced that it was a BOY!  I let out a scream and Eddie definitely whooped!  It was really cute.  We filmed the whole thing and will be putting it together at some point. This was the picture they showed us to really see the...parts....
I seriously have NO idea what else there is in this picture, but I do see the "part" necessary to determine that this is a BOY!

In this picture, Cal was feeling a little camera shy (actually, he was in all of the pictures).  You can see his eyes and his nose peeking out over the placenta, and his arm is up by his head.  SO CUTE!  I love him so much already!!!

What's it gonna be???

I can NOT believe we get to find out TOMORROW what Peanut is... a cute little boy or a sweet little girl (actually, either way, he/she will be cute and sweet!).  The appointment is at 2:30, and I do not know how on earth we are going to wait until then (again, I am so dramatic!).  I would love to be one of those people who didn't need to find out, but I am not!  I have to know!

I just uploaded some pictures from the below post, and noticed how round and fat my face looks... makes me think GIRL, since women with girls tend to put on weight in their face (although, now that I say that, I can think of several people who had girls who didn't put on an ounce in their faces!).

Honestly, I do not care one way of the other what this baby is.  I really really really just want a healthy and happy baby... that's all that matters!

My students have all weighed in and more than half of them are convinced it's a boy.  Many of the girls think I am having a boy and many of the boys think it's going to be a girl.

Eddie still thinks it will be a girl, and my dad thinks it will be a boy.  He made a comment this weekend to my mom about Jackson and (our baby boy) riding around on the boat and getting stuck in the sound and needing Grandpa to come and get them.  The visual is really kinda cute! :)

On Sunday, Eddie and I went to church and then lunch.  After eating a hearty meal, my tummy seemed extra large, so I had him take a picture:
19 weeks :)

After church, I went out to run some errands, and ended up meeting Mom at Triangle Town Center for some Gap Maternity shopping.  It was WONDERFUL!  The clothes were adorable and we had the best time trying things on (well, I had fun trying things on, Mom watched...).  After we left the Gap, we noticed that Pottery Barn Baby was having a floor sample sale.  The dresser that I thought was BEAUTIFUL in the catalogue, but was way too expensive, was on sale for very very very cheap, so we went ahead and got it!  While we were going, we went ahead and got a few more pieces too, so our nursery is coming together!  We are so excited (well, I say we, but I am not sure Eddie knows what's going on!).

After we find out the sex, mom and I are going to a fabric store to make some of the bedding and such and then we will paint and get it going!  I will post pictures once we get moving in that direction.  I feel like we are doing this all so early, but I am almost to the half way point, so it's time to get moving!

Can't wait until tomorrow! :)  xoxo

Busy Weekends

What a weekend!  On Thursday night, we had a Junior League "kick off" party at The Fresh Market .  It was the start of our Home Roam, kitchen edition, that would be taking place on Saturday.  The party at Fresh Market was a ton of fun and Eddie and I both had a really good time.

On Friday, we woke up rather warm.... turns out the air wasn't working!  A pregnant lady without air conditioning is an unhappy lady!  We had some air downstairs, but didn't have any flowing upstairs.  It was 88 INSIDE our house on Saturday!  Needless to say, we have an air person coming to look at it this afternoon.

Since it was so warm, we wanted to spend as much time as possible outside this weekend.  On Friday, we went to Fridays on the Porch, in front of the Carolina Inn.  It was such a beautiful night and we had a great time.  Chris came out with Jackson and a bunch of other friends were there as well, so it was a fun night.  Afterwards, we went with Katie and Chapman, and Peter and Tiffani to grab some dinner.  Here are some pictures: (note: after looking at these pictures, keep in mind, I was REALLY hot... and awful looking!  Sheesh!)

Movin' on up!

Yesterday, as lunch was about to start, my cell phone rang, and I saw the number for the OB's office.  I answered it, and the person said, "Oh Carrie, I am so sorry to have to call and do this to you..."  I swear, I think my heart stopped beating!  My hand immediately went to my tummy and I quickly sat down. (such the drama queen, I swear!).

I soon realized that the baby is fine and it was the appointments person calling to cancel my May 1st ultrasound.  The technician wouldn't be in that day, so we would have to reschedule. As relieved as I was, I was not very happy that I would have to push the date back even more!

The lady asked what days I was free the following week, and I told her I was free the entire week leading up to the 1st of May (:)) .  She said since I was so willing to work with them with the dates, that she would bump me up a few days.

SO NOW, the new ultrasound date is Tuesday, April 28th at 2:30... and we are SOOOO excited!  Eddie has taken the afternoon off of work and we are going to go out and celebrate!  I know it is only 3 or 4 days earlier, but in our world right now, that is HUGE!  :)

We'll keep you posted!

Beach Ball

Saturday night we went to the Beach Ball.  It was a fun night, but after all of my walking, I was exhausted!  I made it to 12:30, which is HUGE for me.... :)
Here is me and Chris, my brother.

A belly shot from the night :)

Busy Weekend

We had such a fun, but busy weekend.  We woke up early and I participated in a 5K walk/run (please.  I walk.) which was in honor of Justin Straus, the former student of mine that lost his fight with Chordoma, a rare form of brain cancer.  The event was organized by Justin's best friend's girlfriend. The thought that a 14 year old girl could pull of an event like this is just crazy to me.  I was so proud of her, and I can only imagine how proud her parents must have been.  She wanted to give the event as a gift to James (Justin's best friend).  They weren't sure how many would turn out, and I was thinking maybe 30-40 would show.... well, I was wrong.  We ended up with more like 150-175.  It was incredible.  Here are some pictures from the day:

These are such great kids and Justin's death has had a huge impact on them (and their teachers).  Justin was an amazing person and we all learned from him.  Justin's dad, Steve, spoke to the group and shared stories about Justin and James.  I think because I am pregnant, I have a whole new understanding to the pain of losing a child.  The thought of it literally takes my breath away.  It was sad talking to Justin's parents before I was pregnant, but now it is almost painful for me.  I just cannot imagine the pain they go through on a daily basis.  Justin's dad copes by talking about Justin and his memories of him.  I do not know how I would cope.

This is a sad post, and I didn't mean for it to be!  It was a wonderful day and a great way to celebrate Justin.

After I left the 5k WALK, I met Sara, Katie, and Amy for another walk!  This one was about 3 miles.  Hank and I were exhausted half way through the day!  It was so gorgeous out though, so it was worth it.  I would have done anything to spend the day outside!

Hank had some hot spots on his bum (:( ), so we had to make a trip to the vet after school on Friday.  The best way for it to heal is to shave the area.  SO, sweet Hank has a bald butt.  I took a picture of him when we were playing outside:

WONDERFUL Doctor's Appointment!

Yesterday, I had an appointment with Dr. Hardison.  I LOVE Dr. Hardison!!!  He was so great.  I seemed to have a ton of questions this month, and he took the time to answer them all.  My body has changed drastically in the past week...there is a BELLY growing now!, so I had a bunch of questions for the doctor.

I told him about my last visit with the doctor (a different one), which was kind of rushed and I never really got to hear the heartbeat because he did the doppler so fast.  Dr. Hardison swore he wouldn't let me leave until I got to hear it loud and clear.  I laid down on the table, and the second he put the wand on my belly, the heart beat was GOING CRAZY!  It was so loud and so strong.  I was just laying there grinning ear to ear.  It was really incredible.  The heart rate was 150... I have no idea what that means for boy/girl (of course, Eddie wanted to know what 150 meant!).  I am just glad to hear the beat.

I left the doctor grinning ear to ear.  It was a great appointment and SO much fun hearing that little heart beat!  AND we got to make the appointment for May 1st for the ultrasound.... time to find out the sex! :)

Eddie's Birthday...again

On Monday night, we celebrated Eddie's birthday with the family.  He was given a video camera from my parents so we can film all of the exciting events we are about to encounter.  He loved his new gift and can't wait to start filming.  Actually, he really wants to film his golf swing and watch it over and over again to dissect it over and over again. Think I am kidding?  Sadly, no. :) Once he opened it, he made the comment about his golf swing like 4 times and finally my dad told him that the camera was to film the BABY.  haha

This will help us send
lots and lots of videos out to our family everywhere so that they can see the baby grow!

Easter Weekend at the beach!

I didn't have school on Good Friday, so I left after work Thursday and headed to the beach with the family.  Eddie also left on Thursday for the Masters.  I was going to go with him, but decided with the constant bathroom breaks I would have to take, it might not be as fun for Eddie :).

My sweetest nephew, Jackson, was so much fun at the beach.  He is 15 months old and is the cutest thing ever.  He makes the best faces and talks up a storm.  We were in church on Sunday, and after the choir was done singing, he said, "Woah." Everyone in church was smiling at him.  It was such a sweet moment.
Here are some pictures from the beach trip:

I am only slightly obsessed with the sweet little guy.  He is just so entertaining!  Last year at Easter, he was so little, but still so cute.  We each took turns staying up with him in the night so his parents could get some rest.  It's so hard to believe how much he has grown in the past year.  Even harder to believe that Eddie and I will have a little one next Easter!  We are so excited and can not wait for all of the fun that comes with the little person growing inside of me! :)

I hope everyone had a Happy and blessed Easter.  As I sat in church on Sunday, I couldn't help but feel pretty darn blessed!

17 weeks and dad-to-be's birthday!

Today is Eddie's birthday...YAY!  It also happens to be the same day as a VERY important basketball game.  (GO HEELS!)
I made him his mom's lasagna and had all of his other favorites too.  He came home from work and opened everything immediately.  I think it was a huge hit though.  This is what it looked like BEFORE Eddie got home.
I also had Eddie take a picture of me at 17 weeks.
Yesterday, I swear I wasn't showing at all.  Our neighbor is due September 20 (1 day after me!), and she has a HUGE adorable belly.  It's also her second, so maybe her belly is showing faster.  I woke up this morning and felt like my stomach had tripled in size (all in my imagination, I know).  We documented this week because I know it is going to continue to grow and grow and grow!  I read that the baby will quadruple in size over the next 4 months!  I can NOT wait!  I am so excited to feel Peanut move too!
Eddie looked at me at dinner and said, "This is my last birthday with just the two of us."  It made me glad that I made a big deal out of our dinner together.  It was sweet. :)

Finally...a belly picture!

This is a HORRIBLE picture.  I think I am laughing at Eddie in it, or making a face at him or something!  BUT, you can start to see the belly!  I am 15 weeks in this picture.
