A day in the life....the longest post ever

It has been awhile since I have done a day in the life post.  There was a link up last week on Andrea's blog and it sparked me to want to do another one.  This was from Monday the 9th...a rainy and boring Monday!

I forgot I was going to do this post until I was well into breakfast routine. Eddie was still out of town so I was running solo.  Andy was in my bed and I woke up to a text at 6:25 from someone looking for a sub at the preschool- I was teaching popup so I couldn't do it... I woke up in a panic thinking I needed to be showered and dressed.  Cal came in at 7 and woke us up.

I threw on a robe and headed downstairs with the boys and dogs.  It was pouring down rain, which makes taking the dogs out super fun!

I got these guys breakfast and put on some Disney channel.  When Eddie is home, we watch the Today Show... they both sat so nicely watching this this morning-- that never happens!

While I cooked my breakfast, I looked at my bloglovin app to read a few blogs while I stirred the eggs.

The dishwasher was full-- I added the morning dishes and started it before heading upstairs...

While the boys chilled downstairs, I washed my face and got ready for the day...

After checking the weather, I saw it was going to be quite a washout for the day...

This one makes getting ready SO SO SO hard.  He is always into everything.  Or wrestling Hank.  I gave him a chewy this morning and begged him to let me get dressed.

I dressed in bright pink to try and make the day less dreary... with my pony in a braid, like always!

As I sat down to put on shoes, I had both dogs on top of me, wrestling and sitting on me.

As I called the boys upstairs to get ready, I grabbed the clothes out of the dryer and, realizing my time was running short, threw them on my bed to fold later.  I do not normally do this.  I do not enjoy doing this.  At all.  But with Eddie gone. I've got to do it when I can.  And I had clothes that needed to go in dryer, so I made a pile on my bed.

I helped Cal make his bed and he got dressed...

And then I helped Andy do the same... while Bruce managed to get Andy upset by stealing pillow and running up and down the hall.

Got the whole crew downstairs and took Bruce out one more time for some final business before crate time.

I did some quick straightening up...

And they packed their backpacks and we headed out the door! 8:35, we out! (next year the school starts at 7:45... this will ROCK our worlds!)

Dreary Monday morning drop off for Cal!

Heading to Andy's school... he is clearly not feeling the weather either...
9:07, both boys dropped at school, heading to popup!!!

An hour long popup class... 789 calories... not bad!

I had a meeting at the preschool at noon, so I packed a bag and took a shower at the club.  Hurriedly got dressed and tried to get a brush through my hair after using some 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner...

Dressed and ready to leave the club, 25 minutes later.... why can't I be that quick at home?

Back in the car, eating a little snack before heading to run a few errands before meeting...

I had to run to the post office to mail a few letter and get some stamps... love these Peanuts ones...

I grabbed a drink from the gas station and then made myself a plate of delicious food for the meeting.  Fresh Market donates food for all of our staff meetings- once a month.  And it is AMAZINGLY good!

We had a speaker come in to talk to us today so it was an extra long meeting... normally they are 1 hour, but today it was 2.

We left the meeting and went to the grocery store to get some stuff to make dinner.  Andy is behind on his miralax and his tummy was UPSET.  We had to make a trip to the bathroom while in the grocery store and I had to carry him multiple times because he was curled up on the floor grabbing his stomach in pain.  Good times.

We left the grocery store with Andy screaming in pain in the back seat and headed to pick up Cal.  It was still pouring.  Did I mention I left my rain coat at home? I did.  Good times.  No umbrella either.

Waiting in the rain for the little white door to release my boy...

We drove home and I carried Andy in and deposited him on the couch with some miralax.  The dogs needed to go out, so I took the trash to the curb while they went out in the rain.

Andy, finally calm, watched a little bit of some show...

Bruce came in from outside and ran directly upstairs and jumped on our bed, muddy paws and all.  I had to wash our comforter... while screaming at Bruce....while Cal yelling "what's my homework??? I need to know my homework right now!!!!" with Andy screaming at Cal "I can't hear the tv show over you yelling!!!!!" It was so peaceful.

I got the laundry situated (and added another load to fold to my bed....) and then Cal got started on his homework.  First up was his weekly reader book.  This one was a tough one with big words in it (creature is a hard one to sound out for a kindergartner!)

Once everyone was chill, I started making dinner: meatloaf! My grandma has a special sauce for meatloaf that is out of this world amazing.  I would like to drink it.  Growing up, it was my most favorite thing EVER that my mom made.  Even today, her meatloaf is top of my charts favorite food.  Eddie won't eat it (because it has the word LOAF in it), so I make it when he's traveling.  Cal thinks it is downright amazing and has also declared it his favorite food also.  (can I get an AMEN?!?!?!) It is easy and delicious and the absolute most perfect thing to eat on a dreary night!

As soon as I started to cook, these two wanted to help me...

We got it in the oven and the sauce made and on the stove and then I unloaded the dishwasher...

Andy perked up by this point, so he decided he wanted to work on some "homework" too.  This kid is opposite of Cal. He looooves sitting there holding the pen just right and taking his time to perfectly write each letter.

Momma was forcing some miralax on him....

While they did some coloring, I packed lunches for Tuesday.

And then I went through Cal's backpack and his communication folder.  His backpack is TRASHED every day after school.  He stuffs every piece of paper in there. I have showed him how to do this so many times, but I think he just wants to shove it in and be done.

Cal got in on the coloring and wanted to finish something he started in school

I decided I might need a little more kick to get me through the day, so I fixed a little glass of iced tea.  At this point, I could have had a glass of wine, but I figured I would go calorie free so I could sneak a piece of candy later...!

The boys went up to the playroom where they were making hay rides... they were cracking themselves up.  Love it.

I put my headphones in and listened to my current read:

...while I vacuumed the upstairs.  We have so much dog hair in our house that we could vacuum every single day.  But I don't have the time for that.  So I try (hard) to do every other day, up and then down.  It was bad upstairs today.... sheesh.

As soon as I finished upstairs and the stairs, the timer was going off on dinner ready.  The boys followed me down and we sat down to eat at right about 5:30-- they were starving!
I was a bad mom and let them watch TV while we ate.  I have found that it makes them eat more because they are focused on what they are watching.  Plus, I was worn out by this point. I felt like I had a lot of conversations with them about their day.  We watched a football game from Sunday night.  The National Anthem came on and Andy immediately crossed his hand over his heart-- precious.

While they watched some of the game, I looked at instagram for the first time all day.  It was the first time I sat down and relaxed (I sat in my work meetings, but there wasn't much relaxing-- there was participating!).

The last time I made meatloaf, Andy wouldn't touch it.  This time he said, multiple times, this is so yum.  It is just yum."

The dogs helped me with the dishes....apparently they like meatloaf too.

At 6, we headed up the stairs for shower time.
I sit on the toilet (with the seat down!) while Hank comes in for some love.

While Andy was in the shower, Eddie facetimed from San Diego-- on his way to Monday night football...

Cal wanted to wear boxers to bed, like daddy does.  We don't own boxers for Cal.  So he found some old old under wear shorts things.  They are a size 2T, I believe...

Once teeth were cleaned and hair was combed, we climbed onto Andy's bed for 2 books.  This one is a new favorite of mine.  It is by Ree Drummond-- the Pioneer Woman! I am going to do a post about it soon.  ADORABLE.   (ps- that hand in the picture? it's andy's.  doesn't it look HUGE?!)

Cal asked to take a picture to send to daddy...Andy's face cracks me up!

At 7:03, I said goodnight one final time, and then sat at the top of the stairs with my pup... he keeps me company while I sit for a few minutes.

I switched the comforter to the dryer and started yet another load of wash.

I came downstairs with the dogs and made some hot lemon water.

I plopped myself on the couch with the computer to answer some emails and get some things taken care of.  Wheel of Fortune was on, but I usually don't watch that- ha! I really don't watch any shows right now.  I am religious about the Bachelor and Big Brother during the summer... but right now, I don't have any shows that I watch.  It's weird! I used to DVR like 20 shows and I was constantly catching up! haha

At 9:45, I took the dogs out for the final time-- it was STILL a daggone downpour out.

I tucked Bruce into his crate and walked down the room to find the mound of clothes to fold before bed.  This is why I typically don't dump clothes on the bed.  My mom is cringing looking at this.  I sat and watched an old episode of Sex and the City while I folded.

I turned off the lights at 10:30 and at 10:40, Andy came in the room.

THAT was a looooong post! If you made it this far, congrats!!! These posts are a pain (to read, I know!), but I am always super thankful when I can look back at them later in life.

Not every day is this busy.  Things have really slowed down as soccer has ended. Not having practice every night of the week makes life easier!
