Beach Week: Part ONE

I have spent the last 11 days at the beach-- and it has been WONDERFUL!!!  We started out the week at my parents house for Memorial Day Weekend, and then Tuesday after Memorial, me and the boys headed to Sally's beach house in Wrightsville for a few days, and then we met back up with Eddie over at Susan's beach house, just down the road from Sally's.  Phew! It feels like we were gone forever.

I took a million pictures (#shocking) so I am going to break the trip up into 3 posts; one from each "leg" of the trip.

Soooo, part one: Memorial Day Weekend!

I had a teacher workday Thursday, the day after the boys' last day of school so we left there around noon and then came home to load the car and finish packing up and then me and the boys were hitting the road!

Over the bridge to my happy place....

We woke up Friday morning ready to PLAY! It was verrrry cool out...almost chilly.  So unlike the weather the previous week in Chapel Hill.  I was a little panicked thinking the kids would be cold, but soon the sun broke through and we were warmed right up.

My mom made this adorable little teepee that the boys loved...

Andy and Grandpa went for a golf cart ride and Andy got to drive... this is a scary picture, my friends!!!

Also a scary picture? The one below... They were ROCKING out to some random music on the ford stereo.  Hilarious.... and terrifying.  Welcome to my future!

As soon as it got warm enough, I took the boys over to the pool where they had a blast swimming like crazy.

That afternoon, we all went for a boat ride. Andy was a happy little boater!

Every night, I would take Bruce on a walk and we would catch the most amazing sunsets.  Pictures do not do them justice!

Saturday morning we got up and got SUPER excited because the Corleys were coming over! Eddie has started kite boarding, and Hampton has been doing it for a while so they reallllly wanted to give it a go this weekend.  We all went out on the boat and found a little sandbar while they tried.

My boys love Katie's boys...clearly:

And I love Katie! Clearly!

To get a kite board set up and ready is a process.  Much more of a process than I ever could have imagined.  Glad they like to do it...

Tricia and Tommy were at the beach also, which was SO much fun! I love having them live in NC now so they can come hang out whenever they want to.  Someone else was excited to have them there too...

One of the boys kite surfing.... pretty sure this was not Eddie.

We stayed out there a looong time and came home to eat a yummy dinner and crash; we were all exhausted.

Sunday we played the whole day and then mom and I took the boys out in the sound on the kayaks.  We went out to this little gazebo and the boys swam and swam and had SO much fun.  I instagrammed a picture and said they were making memories out there, and it is really true.  They won't soon forget their trip out there exploring in the water.

They were laughing so hard and having the best time.  Nothing makes this mom happier than hearing her boys laughing and having fun together.

My dad and Eddie were out in the boat and as they were coming back in they saw us and came over.  The boys started jumping off the boat-- can you tell they are happy? Here is Cal's jump:

And my timid little Andy was right there too-- he isn't close to being scared.

Their double jump.  I wasn't expecting Cal to jump OUT quite so much! I cut him out of the picture! ha!

My sweet little swimmers!

It was a gorgeous day on the water and there was not a cloud in the sky!

We brought Bruce and Hank out and they were in heaven! Bruce couldn't touch in some places so I held on to him-- love his little wet face.

When we got back to the dock, Andy decided he wanted to jump in.  When this kid got fearless, I will never know! Whaaaa???

We spent Monday of Memorial Day on the beach and it was yet another BEAUTIFUL day!

Tuesday morning we packed up and headed to Sally's house.  That post is next!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM!!!!!

It is this woman's birthday today!!!! Cheers to the most amazing mother, friend, grandmother and person you could ever hope to meet.  I strive every single day to be more like her. She is patient and caring and extremely thoughtful.  She is always looking for ways to help others.  She sees the good in people when the good is hard to find.  I absolutely adore her and hope she has the perfect birthday MONTH (when your birthday is on the 1st of a month, you get to celebrate the entire month....right??)

Happy Birthday, Mom! I LOVE YOU!!!!
