Myrtle Beach 2013

This past weekend, we loaded up the car and headed south to Myrtle Beach for Eddie's annual regional meeting. There are meetings and dinners and lots and lots and lots of fun.  We really enjoyed this year since the kids were at a really fun age-- last year, Andy was newly one and just sort of wobbling around, but not an efficient walker.  This year, he was running everywhere!

We are lucky in our family that Eddie, my dad and my brother are all in the same region so we get to all be together (because heaven knows we don't spend enough time together! hahaha) at the meetings.

Chris's wife stayed home with Margaret and he was a brave man and brought Jackson and Catherine.  I am so glad he did because my kids loved getting to play with them.

I took a TON of pictures... these will be all out of order and are from my phone and my good camera.

We got in Thursday morning and after checking in, went straight to the beach!

I don't know that I have ever seen Cal play so hard.  He ran and swam and dug and ran and played his little heart out.  That's what it's all about!

We got ready for afternoon meetings and tried to get a good picture...

At dinner the first night-- the kids were eating a HUGE cookie!

After dinner, the region did a sort of "newlyweds" game, which I am sure was hilarious, but my kids were antsy and not wanting to sit quietly and listen...so grandma suggested we take them down on the beach and we are SO glad we did! It was AWESOME!

Things started off nice and dry and clean...

Then, the edges of shorts got a little wet...

I asked the kids how old they were.  Jackson quickly showed me 5 fingers and Cal was trying SO hard to get his three fingers up...
 Still trying....
 Stillllllll trying.....
 GOT IT (and proud!)!!!!

Me and my momma... she got her hair cut right before the trip and it is SUPER cute...hard to tell in this wind-blown shot, but it is really cute!

The good clean fun got dirty fast...

Catherine watching Cal do the worm...
And then Catherine attempting it too...

This is probably my favorite picture of the whole trip-- Cal and jackson having the best time together, making memories!

He thought this was awesome...
 4 (of the 5) cousins...

If you could hear their shrieks of laughter...makes this picture even more awesome...

Friday, we had the spouses meeting in the morning and then we hit the beach! Cal and Andy loved to dig holes and then Cal would "help" Andy jump into them.  This inevitably ended up with both on their bottoms, but they loved doing it every single time.

This kid, who wasn't sure about the beach over Memorial Day, was ALLLL about the beach and the water and the sand this time.  He loved it all!

Taking a break under the umbrella...

Cal found a mask in my bag and put it on.  He ran around like a crazy person with that thing on-- he couldn't see a thing out of it, but he would run and run and run...
 (check out the lips...)

We had another dinner on Friday night...

and we learned to head to the beach immediately following the dinner!

Happy Father's Day to my favorite daddy...

Chris was cracking us up...

And how cute are my parents??

Saturday morning, Eddie had a meeting, but my meeting was over, so I took the boys to the beach pretty early.  It wasn't crowded and they had the BEST time running their trucks up and down the beach.

Cal had a constant plumbers crack going on...

Snuggling with Nug while he had a snack...

Doing the worm in another puddle...

On Friday, I sat in the room for several hours while Andy napped (Cal stayed with Eddie on the beach and at the pool).  I realllllly did not want to do that on Saturday....Andy took a little power nap on Grandma! It was awesome! I got to stay out and play with Cal and everyone was happy!

There was an octopus by the elevator that lead to the pool.  My mom took this when she went up there with Andy.  He was yelling "oct-a-puus!!!!" hahaha

Saturday night we had the awards dinner... this was the ONLY picture I took the entire night.  Ugh.  Hate when I do that!!!

We woke up Sunday morning and headed home! The ride was uneventful, which is the way we like it! We did have to stop at McDonald's for a bathroom break so we let the kids stretch it out a bit while we took turns going in to pee.  I thought they looked pretty cute in their outfits and rainbow flip flops picking flowers for me... :)

Andy NEVER falls asleep in the car....EVER.  But he rested his little head on his little dog and he was OUT cold.  Well, for about 4 minutes.  When the iPad slid off of his lap, he jumped a mile and screamed bloody murder.  But it was great while it lasted!

We really did have a great time in MB this year.  We stayed in an Embassy Suites, so we had a living room (people always ask me about staying in hotels with kids!).  The first night, we all slept in the bedroom-- Andy in the pack n play wedged in between the wall and our bed and Cal in the other bed.  Well, the beds were fulls and were SOOOO tiny.  We ended up waking andy up around 1 the first night and he stayed up until 5... it was awful.  Cal slept through it all.  The next night, we moved the boys to the living room and it worked MUCH better.  There was a pull out couch for Cal and the pack n play fit over by the kitchenette.  Andy woke up around 1 and Eddie walked out, said "lay down now." And he did and we all slept until the alarm went off at 7.  The last night, everyone slept great until around 1 (what is it with 1???), we heard a LOUD booooom! and I went running in the other room-- it woke up both boys, but i told them it was fine and to go to sleep.  i waited until they were asleep then got up to look around.  Turns out, Eddie set the temp in the mini fridge to "freezing" and one of my diet cokes exploded everywhere, knocking the door wide open on the fridge-- whoops! That was scary... but we all went back to sleep fine!

Hard to believe another regional meeting has come and gone.  I feel like I JUST wrote last year's post about the meeting....

I am SO proud of Eddie for all of his hard work and it was nice to get to celebrate him and his accomplishments.
