8 is GREAT

My precious CalBoy turned EIGHT a few weeks ago. I say it every year: how can he be so old!?!?! I swear, I was just heading to the hospital to have him, crying my eyes out that we were going to hurt Hank's feelings when we came home with a new baby. Yup.  I did.

This was Cal days before his first birthday:
And now he's all big and grown....and melting my heart daily.

The pride I feel for this kid is powerful.  I love watching him play with his friends. I love watching him play sports. I love watching his desire to live to the fullest every day.  He hits the ground running every single day.  And it is awesome.

We had a lot of fun celebrating him this year.

He went to school Friday and we got hard to work on his room.  He had one single bed in there, and we got him a matching second single bed and totally rearranged and changed his room. He had mentioned before wanting an "older" room-- and the bedding he had in there was the same he got when he moved out of the crib when Andy was born-- so it is about 6 years old.  He was due for an upgrade.

Bruce loves the room.
We cleaned out a LOT of the clutter and organized it so things would be easier to find.

The bathroom even got a few prints.
I love all the signs we found for the walls.

He got a new chair too, which he loves.  We were thinking a nice little reading spot for him-- and so far that's what it has been used for.

My mom wrapped his door in wrapping paper and when he came home from school,  I was inside his room. I called for him to come in and he was STUNNED.
Friday night, he went to bed as a seven year old and I got to work decorating the house for him to wake up an EIGHT year old!

He came down early the next morning, on his actual birthday, and waited very impatiently for everyone to get down there so he could open.

Donuts for breakfast for your birthday?! You bet.

We had a baseball game that morning and Cal earned the game ball.  He was PUMPED. I love his smile here.  And his crooked hat.

Soon after, it was time for the party, so we headed to the country club for a GOLF party!

Some of the party helpers before the party started:

The super cute golfers as they arrived...

The club had two extra large carts with extra rows so all the kids piled on and headed over to the practice facility.  Cutest golf carts I have ever seen!

All of their bags lined up were adorable too.

More of the adults at the party!

After some lessons on the greens and an intense game of knockout putting, we headed back inside for an ice cream sundae bar.

The kids LOADED up their bowls.
We sang happy birthday to Cal and he blew out a candle in a GREEN cupcake.  Where are my pictures of that, I wonder.....?

The rest of the weekend was super fun too.  We all stayed up way too late the night of the party with friends over and lots of outside playing.

The next day, we returned to the driving range for some hitting before heading to lunch.

The new putting green opened too, so we practiced up there too.

It was a wonderfully busy weekend celebrating our favorite eight year old.  I love that boys more than I can even try to explain. He has a dimple on his cheek from a scar from stitches last summer and I just adore it. He has a twinkle in his eyes constantly.  He truly lives each day to the fullest, soaking up the last drop.  I am so so lucky to get to be his momma and I thank the good Lord for blessing me with that title.  I can't wait to see what the next year brings!
