Current Events

I am having a hard time doing consistent posts, and it is just easier to do a huge unload at once...instead of 8 short awkward posts, you are getting one long awkward post!

Here is what we have been up to the past few weeks!

I did not put Cal in camp this month (FAIL) and it has been challenging interesting getting things done. Last week I felt like I had a trillion errands to run and hauling both kids around with me was difficult to say the least! I can handle tackling the to do list with one kid, but when you are hauling both in and out of the car in the 100* weather, it feels next to impossible to accomplish much.  Not to mention, I had to buy birthday presents for a party this past weekend.  I bent down to pick something up and Mr. Cal decided to load the cart with "toys for Cal 'cause I such a good boy!"  The fit that occured when I removed those items from the cart was heard 'round Target.  He honestly just did not understand why I was buying toys for other kids and not him, when he was behaving so nicely-- and he actually was behaving great...sigh...

I digress...

Here is what we've been up to....

Cal likes to float in the bathtub now.  Fully submerged minus his face:

I dressed Andy in this TCU shirt last week.  Ever since then, Cal has been asking DAILY to wear a TCU shirt.  The problem is we have passed all of his shirts down to Andy, and Cal doesn't have any that fit.  I told my mother in law about Cal's desire for a shirt of his own, and she said she would bring some when she came in August.  Yesterday, Cal full on refused to get dressed in anything other than a TCU shirt.  I sent a video of his request to my MIL and after she watched the video, she jumped in the car immediately and went to the book store to buy some shirts for him! hahaha!  I said it's a good thing he wasn't requesting a car! hahaha... he has some new shirts in the mail, thankfully!

Andy played realllllly hard at the gym and his little cheeks turned bright pink!

The keyboard broke on our computer last week.  We had a wireless one, and I tried to clean it with a paper towel sprayed with windex-- same thing I have always used-- and when I was done, the board was spotless, but three of the keys wouldn't work.  When you typed A, "ax" would appear, and when you typed R, "rqq" would appear.  Think of my name and you see my dilemma! Gradually, none of the keys would work, and then it stopped connecting to the computer all together...
Anyyyyway..... I mustered up the energy to take both boys to the apple store for an appointment at the genius bar.  It was okkkkkaaaayyyyyy.  Cal LOVES the iPad and can work them better than most adults.  They have out a little table for kids with iPads filled with educational games.  I propped him up at the station and fed Andy snack after snack trying to keep him happy in the stroller.  My appointment was for 11:45, so we were running close to lunch time.  I was told they would be early, so I got there at 11:15 and waited.... well, at 12:00, they called my name.  I walked up to the genius bar, handed him my keyboard, and Cal yelled: "MOMMY! I NEED TO PEE PEE NOW!" I didn't even get to say hi to the "genius." I must have looked totally frantic because he told me to just go ahead and take him (seriously, Cal? We've been here 30 minutes and you wait until NOW to have to go??").  We ran into the potty and came back to learn the keyboard had a defect that couldn't be fixed.  We bought a new one and scooted out of there.

Any of you familiar with Southpoint mall know about the fountains outside.  I let Cal throw in some pennies and he thought it was the best thing ever! I let him throw three because he is almost three.  He walked around telling everyone (I throwed three coins (pronounced coy-yins) into the fountain because I be three on my birthday in September!).

Another one of my errands involved going to the other mall in town, University Mall.  A friend of mine with two boys similar in age (actually, Billy is 11 months older than Cal and Charlie is 4 months older than Andy, but still) agreed to meet us there.

I had to drop off my engagement ring/wedding bands to have them appraised.  They still have them and I.feel.naked! I HATE not wearing them!  I put another ring on my left finger so I have something in its place.

For any of you Chapel Hill folks, in case you were not aware, Roses in U Mall has THE most amazing supply of Carolina gear I have ever seen.  And it is suuuuper reasonable price wise.  We let the boys peruse the aisles of Roses and they found lots of stuff they thought we should get for them.  We got the hats...and nothing else- ha!

After running around the mall and having lunch at Chick-fil-a (obvi), we decided to go over to the park across the street to play for awhile so the littles could wear themselves out a bit-- they were hanging in the stroller at the mall.

As soon as we arrived, the big boys both had to peepee.... they sprinted to trees next to each other and took care of business! hahaha!
I honestly think Cal has peed outside this summer more times than he has peed inside. (sigh)

It was SO hard to get good pictures of them-- they were moving fast!

While we were playing, it started sprinkling, then it flat out downpoured on us.  We took off running to the cars, carrying the littles while the bigs chased after us screaming.  It was a total impromptu play date that was so fun.

JUST when I thought I was going to go in-freaking-sane have to put myself in time out crazy without camp, I looked on the back porch and the boys were having a jam session together with Mickey and Mickey's guitar! It was super sweet and made me smile.

After the jam session, I made a fabulous dinner (easy mac for andy and hot dogs for cal. Judge away, my friends).  I usually take spoon fulls of the easy mac and put piles on Andy's tray for him to feed as he goes.  Well, today, I was being pulled in 10 different directions and I was running around like crazy doing something.  So I handed him the bowl of the mac n cheese.  He enjoyed it...

The Cars costume has resurfaced and Cal swears it makes him run faster.  Apparently, the cape makes him extra extra fast... so, here he wears the Lightning McQueen costume and a SuperCal cape... while screaming into the megaphone.  Three.Ring.Circus.

Now, onto a different topic....DREAMS....

No clue what it going on in Cal's head when he sleeps!  It started last week-- he woke up in the night crying and when I went into his room he was jibber jabbing something like "don't let them hurt Hankers, I need my Hankers...." over and over again.  I told him Hank was okay and that nothing was going to happen to him.  He was still upset, so I went in and got Hank to go into Cal's bedroom.

The next morning, he woke up and started talking to Hank... and then that day he was ALL OVER HIM.  Like, would not stop hugging the dog...

So that night, he wouldn't go to sleep without Hank in his bed.  I agreed to have him sleep in there, hopeful it would prevent him from having any dreams...
But he woke up that night again, even with Hank in the bed with him.  I had him sit up and look at Hank and he smiled and then went right back to sleep again.

I am sure Hank isn't minding the treatment... yesterday morning, Cal woke up and started calling for us to come get him: "Ohhhhh Mommmmmy! Cal and Hankers ready to get up nooooowww!!!!!" and this is how I found them...

The friend who went to the mall with us asked if we would want to go to the museum with them.  We were all about it! So we headed there Friday after Andy's early nap.

Cal was super excited to get to play with Billy again.

They have a train there that you can ride.  I thought Cal Williamson was going to wet his pants he was SO SO SO excited to ride it! I was actually worried he might get a little scared or nervous, especially when we went through the tunnel, but he was obsessed with the train! SO loved it!

After the train, we headed on down the dinosaur trail.  Cal has just now started to express an interest in dinosaurs, so this was really fun for him.
The little guys had fun in the strollers too!
We went in the butterfly house.  Cal was acting like a big kid holding the flyer on the different types....
...until one flew out at him.  Then he wasn't so big...

Andy loved the ceiling of the exhibit...

After lunch, we let everyone play on the playground for a bit.  Andy climbed on EVERYTHING.  It is exhausting chasing him and trying to prevent him from falling.

And seriously-- could you not just die at these shoes?  They were Cal's and I so love them....and his little muscle legs...
Charlie and Andy playing in the tunnel...
We attempted to get all four together for a picture....

 Time to leave!
But not before running into the Wildlife Exhibit!

These next two pictures I had to add...
Standing in almost the exact same spot, a little bit taller...with Andy's shoes on...
2.23.11

17 months old

And, after the museum, Cal found his dinosaur slippers that were sent to him (thanks, CB!), last year and HAD to wear them the rest of the day....

Dinner time buddies.... I actually took this before pulling the chairs around to greet Eddie when he walked in the door.  He opened the door to find both kids seated side by side laughing hysterically at me moving them around.  Pretty good greeting, if you ask me!

On Saturday, we had a birthday party.  I was inside wrapping the presents and Cal went outside to play with Eddie.  I looked out my window and started cracking up.

Golf club
Golf ball
Mis-matched jammies covered in cars
Camo rain boots
Hank's collar around neck

The birthday party was at a "craft" place... they made crowns and then wands.  After the crafts, they walked next door for some frozen yogurt...

Another night of Hank sleeping with Cal... Cal has been up every single night at least once.  All I have to do is walk in there, re-tuck him in with the blankets and give him a kiss and he is back out... but he won't fall back asleep until I do those things...

On Sunday, we showered my friend Sally (Brad's mommy), who is having a baby girl!  I so love Sally and her family and I can not wait to meet the little one! I refer to her as Carrie, but I mean... whatever she wants to call her is fine by me :) haha
extra big smiles from us
 The momma with the hostesses!

And one more pic of Cal/Hank... this is how he sits in the morning when Hank sleeps with him.  Pretty darn sweet.

Andy was SO happy the other morning.  He was wearing his Mickey Mouse shirt and was carrying a stuffed Mickey around the house under his arm.  He was giggling so hard! I loved it-- so of course I had to take pictures.

This morning, Eddie tried to get Cal dressed and he got to witness him refusing all clothes not TCU related.  I found this jersey in the closet and Cal agreed to put it on.  Here is a happy little TCU fan!
We went to the airport today to watch some airplanes take off and land-- such a fun thing for the kids to do.  I took a ton of pictures, but will save them for another day.  This post seems picture-heavy already!
