Fancy Pants.

Boys are hard on clothes. I have always known that. I don't mean to gender stereotype.  I am sure there are plenty of little girls who are wild and hurt their clothes too....

However, there is one little girl in Andy's class (whom we ADORE-- she is sooo precious) and she was wearing the most darling pair of red skinny jeans on Wednesday.  I told her mom how much I liked the pants and her mom told me they had been passed down from three other little girls before Sophie.  THREE.  There were no holes in the knees.  There were no stains from who knows what that even bleach won't get out.  They looked like they were purchased yesterday from the Gap at full price.

Then, there's my boys.

When I found out I was pregnant with a second boy, everyone immediately said "oh, you will save so much money passing down clothes from Cal to Andy!"

Well, this is how Cal came home from school on Monday:

These are his new-this-year old navy jeans.  Honestly, it is so warm in NC, we haven't been wearing jeans that long-- maybe since October...maybe? So these puppies lasted us all of three months.  Guess we won't be passing those down to Andy.

Then, on Tuesday at the gym I went in to pick up the boys and the childcare guy was distraught. He told me he was SO sorry but Andy got a rip in his pants.  (first of all, I freaked out because the guy was visibly upset and then he started out with the i am so sorry andy got..... all I could think of was 'andy got hurt' 'andy got in trouble' 'andy got into the.....').  Here was Andy with his pants....

These are also from Old Navy.  Great, quality stuff!

I don't mean to dog on Old Navy-- I usually like their jeans for the boys, but the fact that this happened, makes me dislike them quite a bit:

We have had good luck with Gap jeans, although they have a more hefty price tag.  Guess it's worth it though if the Old Navy ones are going to fall apart after three months.  A friend just told me about Lands End-- they have jeans with "iron knee." Guess they are made for little boys who are rough on their knees.  You think we qualify for that?

So, after ripping up our jeans, we had nothing left to do but have a dance party in my bathroom....sans pants! Bring on the Wiggles! Fruit Salad...yummy yummy.....
