Weekend Update: Easter

We had high hopes to head to the beach for Easter weekend, but after getting home from our trip Friday night, we decided against it.  And I am SO glad we stayed in town!!! We got home and unloaded mounds of dirty clothes and I was overwhelmed to say the least! Reentry is hard.... cry me a river, right?

Saturday morning, we woke up and after doing more laundry, we headed over to the country club for the big Easter Egg Hunt.  This was our first year participating in the hunt since we are usually at the beach for Easter.  There were a TON of eggs and we had a really fun time watching the kids collect eggs.

The kids were split up in two sections: 4 and under on the top part of the driving range, and 5 and up on the main part of the range.  I stuck with Andy since I knew I wouldn't be able to keep up with Cal anyway....

These four cuties were ready to attack the upper area.

As soon as the kids were released, Andy went into GO mode.  The kid was running and loading his basket like it was a race.  And I get that's how these hunts usually work, but there were literally thousands of eggs everywhere you looked-- there was not a shortage of eggs.

He was running back and forth and dumping eggs just as fast as his little legs would carry him.  And he had a look of determination on his face while he was working so hard.

Here is a picture of the 5 and ups.  If I zoom in on this, I can spy Cal in a bright green polo shirt kind of in the middle.  Sad this is the best picture I got! Whoops.... oh well! He's there!

 Back to this kid....

After the hunt was over and Andy's big basket was filled to the brim, he stopped long enough for a picture with Charlie...

We got home and were playing outside.  Remember how sweet I said he was in Aruba? Apparently he used up all his sweetness for the month.  He's back to being a little...temperamental.....

We ran errands the rest of Saturday after the hunt and I went to target to take care of bunny duties.  I bought a few things before the trip and stored them in the attic.... came home to find bunnies with ears melted down in front of their faces.  I swear, it wasn't that warm while we were gone!

The boys came down Sunday morning excited to find the Easter bunny came and brought them some candy, a new watch and some legos.

The boys love a watch.  The one Cal got for Christmas barely works anymore.  He is hard on watches! And when you can find them for cheap and it makes him this happy, it's hard not to get the kid one!

Nug was just happy as can be to get some chocolate!

Bruce was happy it was Easter too:

We went to church for Easter service and I am so so so glad we did! I LOVED the service! It was so great.  Loved the sermon and the music and the Easter lilies on the alter.

We got these two dressed and ready to go.  Cal insisted on wearing this tie.  It was about 4 inches too short...he didn't care.  He had his mind made up.

Love these two goofs.  I love taking their picture in front of this door-- I can go back and look at how much they have grown in each picture we take...but that might make me cry, so I better not do that....

This little 5 and a half year old was full of energy today!

We loaded up the new truck and took a family selfie-- love those little faces peeking out in the backseat.

After church, we took a quick family picture, and I am so glad we did! Love the steeple in the background.

Eddie's dad got into town while we were in church and Eddie's sister picked him up and then we met for lunch.  The boys were SO excited to see poppy and shosh and ah ho (since they haven't seen them since we've been gone!).  They all but jumped out the window when we pulled up.   Holding Poppy's hand after lunch:

We came home and changed clothes and immediately started playing basketball in the driveway.  The boys (of all ages) had so much fun playing.  We spent most of the afternoon outside enjoying the beautiful weather.

It was the perfect Easter weekend! I am sad to have missed my family at the beach, but I think I would have been a basket case trying to do it all.

Plus, the Easter service at our church hit home with me today.  I think I needed it.

Much love to you all xo
