They see me rollin'

This past Sunday was a big deal around here.

Cal has been riding his bike (minus training wheels) off and on for a few months now, but really hasn't been confident riding it.   He would ride for a 20-30 yards, but you could tell he wasn't quite sure of himself yet.

On Sunday, we took CB back to the place where we went a few weekends ago with Brad's family.  We were going to give it another shot.

I don't know if having CB there to support him gave him extra brave-power or what, but he got it.  He really, really got it.  We lowered his seat a bunch, which I think really helped-- although his little skinny legs are jutting out to the side while he rides-- maybe it helps him balance??

We worked on getting him to start on his own.  That is tricky and takes practice.  I was helping him, but every time I helped him, I would explain, "bottom foot on the ground, top foot on the pedal, push forward, etc, etc..." Finally he did it all on his own.  It wasn't a smooth start... he was kind of hopping his bottom foot up there, but that doesn't matter.  He got it!

And he was SO proud.  SO SO SO proud.

At one point, he was struggling to get going and we figured his little legs had to be getting tired.  I offered to come help him and he said, "no thank you, momma.  I will get it." Ummmm.... cue momma's tears.

Now he loves it and wants to ride all the time.  I posted a video on social media because I was proud and wanted to share it with family out of town.  A friend in Cal's class saw it (via his mom) and asked Cal about it in front of his class on Monday.  Cal got to stand up and tell the class about riding his bike-- and he was SO excited about it!

Here is the video of our little bike rider:

Of course, Andy is Mr. Bike Rider too.  He was a little apprehensive after his big ol' spill a few weeks back, but now he is back in the saddle and he FLIES.  It is terrifying to watch.  I looked aver at him at one point and he was cruising along (at a fairly fast pace) and he put his feet on the handle bars.  Honestly.  What am I going to do with these boys??? Andy has already started asking for his training wheels to come off.  I think we will wait a tad longer for that one....!!!

I am kind of in shock that I have a kid old enough to ride a 2-wheeler.  Wasn't he JUST learning to crawl?? And I remember the day he started walking like it was yesterday.  How can time be flying by so fast??
