Girls' Beach Weekend

I love being a mom. I love my boys more than anything in the whole wide world.  I love Eddie. I love getting to be his wife.

But, y'all.  Sometimes you just need a little girls' weekend at the beach.  It does wonders for the soul.

And that's just what I did this past weekend with this crew...

But let me back up... My mom was keeping the boys because Eddie was traveling for work.  He was flying out Friday morning and getting home Saturday evening. Mom wanted to take the boys to the beach and she wanted to leave on Thursday.  So, I took the boys to the pool Thursday morning to wear them out. I fed them lunch and gave them showers then dropped them at mom's house just after noon.

They left for the beach and I went to the grocery store (ALONE!) and then headed home.  I was making some treats to take with me to the beach so I blared some music and cooked and then cleaned my entire house- top to bottom.  That sounds so stupid-- I have all these free hours, why spend them cleaning, right? Well, it was SO nice to have a fully cleaned house- with everything actually put away...I came home Sunday and it was amazing to have it all clean (well, minus the stuff Eddie touched when he got home Saturday night...none of that stuff was put away, but minus that, it was fabulous!).

Then, Thursday night, Eddie and I had a date night! It was long overdue and so much fun.

I woke up Friday morning and taught a class at 8:15. I showered at the country club and then headed east to Wrightsville Beach!

We all went to the beach and greeted everyone as they arrived.  There were 12 of us total-- and 30 kids between all of us.... good thing the kids weren't invited!!!

We sat on the dock of the beach club (see top pic) just talking and laughing and then we headed home to get ready for dinner.  This was our group shot before going to dinner....

We went to a wonderful sushi restaurant for dinner and had SO MUCH FUN!

Saturday we slept in and then some girls went for a walk while the rest of us took a walk. There is a great "loop" there that is about 3 miles that made for a great walk! We stopped at this smoothie place to cool off and get a little treat.  The girl working asked to take our picture out in front for their social media- haha.  Sure enough, this picture was posted on instagram later that afternoon.

After our walk, we finally headed over to the beach to relax for a few hours.  While I was relaxing, this happened:

Look closely.  See the white thing on my leg? Yeah.  I got pooped on.  ha! I know they say that it brings good luck, but really?? Seems just gross to me!

Saturday night we stayed in and did this:

And then we attempted to take a group shot using a cell phone timer app... it wasn't easy.... clearly. I so wish this had turned out because the sky was SO cool.  But after multiple attempts, this was the best we could do.

We played with sparklers down on the dock....

And we made loads of memories!

Sunday morning, we got up and packed up and all left at different times.  I headed to my parent's house to retrieve some bozos.  I got there and we hung out for about an hour and then loaded the car and it was back to reality!

These two goofballs had a BLAST with grandma and grandpa over the weekend.  They talked about all they got to do with my parents and I am SO SO SO SO grateful to my parents for keeping them so I could go! We were all a little tired...

It was the perfect weekend with some fabulous friends!
