doodoo.

Do you ever feel like your life is revolving around poop? Because, let me tell you, my life is filled with sh*t.  Okay, that sounded really bad.... my life is great and I love it! But right now, it is filled with talk about poop! I have never talked about/written about/texted about/had voicemails and phone calls about POOP!

My last post was all about Andy and his potty issues and we thought we had it under control.

Then Sunday night happened.  He woke up at 11:30 screaming that he needed to poopoo.  I got up, put him on the potty and he sat there screaming and grabbing at his tummy in pain.  He couldn't get anything out.  We brought him in bed with us where he snuggled in nicely....and then vomited all over the entire bed.  It was everywhere.  Eddie took Andy into the shower (but not before Andy threw up again in the bathtub) since they were both covered and I changed the sheets and mattress pad-- it was a HUGE mess.  I got everything cleaned and got Andy in his jammies when he said he needed to throw up again.  And he did.

I spent the night on the floor of Andy's room with him while he threw up 8 times.  There was no sleep to be had for either of us.  At one point around 1:30, I was so upset watching Andy in this pain that I got dressed to take him to the ER.  Clearly he needed some kind of help, and clearly, we were unable to give him the help he needed.  Eddie called his mom who talked me down a bit.  An ER visit in the middle of the night could be traumatizing for a little guy.

A call first thing in the morning got us an 11am appointment with our doc so we took Cal to school and then did a grocery run-- where Andy said he had to go to the bathroom four different times, but never went.

We got to the doctor early and right away Andy said he had to go potty.  We went to the bathroom in the waiting room, where, again, he produced nothing.  Oh-- at this point, his tummy was HUGE and so hard.

We got taken back to the room where I filled in the nurse about everything that's been going on.  She told us to wait for the doc to come in... in the time we waited, Andy and I walked to the bathroom 5 different times.  Finally on the last time, he produced something-- we have been giving him softener, so it was a lot of something, thankfully!

The doctor came in and listened to his belly and felt around and determined that he needed an enema to help flush it all out.  The nurse came in to give the enema:
me: "he's really strong, just a little warning"
nurse: "oh, that's fine! I am used to strong kids"
Nurse after attempting to shove something into Andy's bottom: "um, okay. wow.  he really is strong!"

We had to keep him lying down for 10-15 minutes before taking him to the potty.  He cried staring into my eyes saying it hurt and "dat yady huuuuurt meeeeeee" about the nurse.  I just held him and tried to keep him calm.

Then we moved to the potty.  I put him down on the potty and sat on the floor, ready for it to happen-- which it should happen within 2 minutes of being upright.  The doctor came in and was stunned when after 10 minutes there was still no movement.

Finally, things started moving and Andy was letting us know it wasn't feeling great.  The sweet nurse brought in some popsicles for Andy, so he sat there, screaming and pooping while sucking on a popsicle! And he wanted to listen to music on my phone...so he is belting out "Boys Round Here" while sitting there crying and eating a popsicle.   Can't make it up!

The end result of an enema should be hard rabbit pellet looking poop, which signifies that you got out the clog, basically (see? surrounded by poop!).  Well, we never got that with Andy.  He sat on the potty for over 40 minutes and it never happened.  We went back into the room to get clothes on and rest for a minute.

The doctor came back in and said she was beyond stumped.  She sent us for an x-ray of his stomach to see what was going on in there.  We got there around 12:45 and they did the x-ray.  I brought Andy home for nap time and waited to hear from the doctor.  At 5, we still had not heard so I texted her (oh yes I did.  No shame) And she called us around 6 last night.

His tummy is FULL of poop.  She could not believe how full of poop it was! She told us to up the laxatives and make some crystal light with loads of softener in it to hopefully clear him all out.

We have tried giving him the crystal light mixture and he hasn't been a fan of it.  I went to the store today and bought a different flavor of crystal light to see if he will drink that more.  So far, no poop today and his tummy is crazy huge.

I am praying for poop today.  The poor kid needs some relief! He slept okay last night, but woke up at 5:30 rearing and ready to go-- which is so not like him! He is our good sleeper...

Anyway... just keeping an update for the records! And, I would add pictures, but the computer is acting up and saying it is full.  Full of what, I do not know.... maybe it's full of sh*t....? Seems to be the theme around here!
