Weekend Update

Another weekend is in the books! The weeks are FLYING by.  Does anyone else feel like that? Here is a look at our weekend!

Saturday morning, I taught a popup class.  But this time, instead of adults, I taught it to kids.  31 kids.  All ranging in age from 4-11.  And it was actually FUN! It was unbelievably exhausting, but it was a lot of fun.    Here we are post workout....

And, I would say I got a good workout in too....

If you are local, we will be doing another kids popup class in February!

While I was teaching, Eddie took the boys to basketball.  I was sad to miss out, but I will get to go to many other games in the future! The boys had fun, but rumor has it Andy had quite the meltdown towards the end of practice.  Hate I missed that........... ahem....

I came home from workout worn out-- Bruce was happy to sit on the floor with me for a while.

I finally made myself get up and do some laundry and then shower and get ready for Jackson's birthday party! It was at a martial arts studio and there was a ninja theme...

Doing pushups...

Cal and Brad are all smiles!

Saturday night we had a wedding reception to go to.  It was for one of my good friend's moms... she was a widow and met a man who had recently lost his wife.  They started dating, fell in love and the rest is history! It was the sweetest thing ever to see these two wonderful people find love again! They were both SO SO happy-- they were seriously beaming the whole night.  Such a special thing to get to be a part of.

My parents were there too, so I had to take a picture with my dad....

and, how cute are they???

I took a selfie with my smoking hot date...

And we danced up a storm for much of the night...

I borrowed the singer in the band's glasses #whynot?

It was a fun night and thankfully, we got to have some good snuggle time on Sunday.....

We headed to the park to soak up some of the sunshine! Andy's outfit was on point once again....

Eddie ran home from the park and I took the boys to firehouse for lunch.  Always feels good when he is exercising while I am eating.  Whoops.  The tv was on behind me and it was on ESPN. It was hilarious to watch them watch it-

We came home from lunch and played for a bit and then headed over to my mom and dad's house for a fun afternoon and an early dinner.   Andy heard there might be football to be played so wore his helmet.

Both boys in the backseat: safety first.

Cal and Jackson had a big ol game of football going while Andy and Catherine had a tea party!

Sweet Margaret fell in love with Eddie.  She wanted nothing to do with anyone but Eddie.  I thought it was pretty darn sweet!

Now we are off and running for another busy week! I hope those of you who are supposed to get hit with this mega blizzard stay safe and warm!!!

A week in pictures...

Monday

Tuesday

Another warm day in January meant playing basketball outside- shirts vs. skins! Tuesday was a long day for me for many reasons.  It was good for me to see the sunshine outside.

Wednesday

Cal woke up Wednesday morning and had a little bit of diarrhea... I think it was probably from the Mexican food we ate Tuesday night instead of a stomach bug, but I opted to keep him home with me...and I am so glad I did! He felt totally fine, but we had SUCH a nice day together, just the two of us.  I had a million errands to run and he just kept right up with me-- selfishly, I loved playing hookie with him.

He pushed the cart for me at trader joes and we had a yummy lunch at panera.  It was just fun to get to talk to him alone- no competition.  He will be in kindergarten next year (gasp!) and these days are limited...I can't just take him out of school any chance I want!

Wednesday also happened to my my nephew's birthday! Jackson turned 7 and they invited us to help him celebrate at Chuck E Cheese.  It was adorable and so fun!

(Cal was running all over the place and I felt like I had to stick near Andy-- please reference above and below pic as to my reasoning.... hence fewer pictures of Cal....also, sweet outfit, andy....)

I did take a picture of Cal and then turned around to see Andy made a new friend.  I could laugh at this for days.  They were hilarious.

After chuck e cheese, we went to kanki, a Japanese steak house, for dinner.  It was so delicious and so much fun!

Thursday

I took hardly any pictures Thursday! We hosted a family dinner for my brother in law's birthday.  I was excited to set the table and plan for a "real" meal in our dining room.

Friday

The day started with these two up bright and early...but they won't come out of their room until the clock says 7:00, so they turn on all the lights and play together quietly.  I snuck in to grab this picture...how sweet are they all bed-headed up?

I put on my new popup thermal (shameless plug. I don't even care... these shirts are the softest things ever.  I am obsessed!) and headed to a workout after dropping off the boys.

Bruce helped Cal have some rest time after school (seeing these pictures, that blanket hanging out is driving me CRAZY!)

Friday night I went to the club with some friends while Eddie went to a movie with some guys he works out with.  The kids had a great time in kids club, and the moms had an even better time together- as you can see!

This was a crazy emotion-filled week.  Phew! I did this post to focus on the positive things, like a birthday dinner, time with friends, and solo time with Cal.... it feels like a roller coaster sometimes, so I have to focus on the positive and know that when the coaster dips down, those positive things will yank me back up.

MLK Day: a day of random fun

We were out of school on Monday for MLK day-- as were all of the schools, I am sure! Days off from school can go one of two ways: 1. dreadful and loooong, or 2. Lots of fun and lots of laughs.

This day was, randomly, the latter! It was like the stars aligned and everyone got along and we had SO much fun together...doing nothing! Weird, right?

We started off the day with a workout and the boys went to childcare.  We then headed to the grocery store to stock up.  I am to the point now where I try to time all shopping trips so that I go without kids, so they hardly go with me any more.  Since they got to go this time, it was like a big treat to them- ha! They were entertaining themselves with the shopping cart for most of the trip.

Normally, this had the potential to drive me to start drinking at noon (not that I do that..........), but they were cracking up and laughing so hard and really, just being little kids... I made myself take a deep breath and just enjoy it.  I know.  Who am I? Like I said- stars were aligned or something.

Then Andy hopped off the cart and said he wanted to "chill in the freezer." Clever little wild man, huh?

Because they were so good at the teeter, they got to pick out a lunchable- the ultimate treat! They wanted to eat their lunch on the back porch...with the sun shining like that, who am I to disagree? (sweet dreams are made of this....anyone? anyone? I love the 80s).

After lunch, they wanted some rest time so they took their iPads to the porch and had a little down time...

Then they decided it was time to head outside to play.  Can I just jump in here to say how much I love having brothers this close in age? They play together constantly (yes, they fight too....), but it is like a built in play date every day!

They cruised around the back yard and stopped a bit to play soccer.... then the truck broke down and I had to come "tow" them back to the garage to charge 'er up.

They took a little more rest time together--

Then moved the party down to the floor.  I had the doors open all day (this is January, right?) and I LOVED listening to them talk to each other and laugh together.  It made me happy!

We headed to swim practice-- I wrote about Andy doing well in his practice Sunday so we wanted to keep rolling with it on Monday.  He was getting confident and having fun and that made me proud.

So it was a totally random day, but one that I will look back on one day and think "wasn't that a fun, random day?" so I had to write about it.

So boring and mundane, but so perfectly sweet to me.

xo!
