CrAzY hAiR dAy

Yesterday was CRAZY HAIR DAY at da Creek.  They are doing a Kindness week and each day has a different theme.  The boys were SUPER pumped to get their hair all jacked up.

Whatever it takes to get these kids to school smiling.... I am all for it!

Weekend Update

Feels like time is flying by! Before I know it, summer will be here! Soaking up this time now-- once again, our weekend was fairly tame.  The month of January has been wayyyy laid back compared to how December was.  The club is also closed right now, so I know that is keeping us all from getting out more.  Not that I mind...an early night in with a fire in the fire place never bothers me.

Friday- we were planning on a quiet night in.  The boys were out playing with friends and Eddie came home with meet to grill out.  He had everything on the grill and next thing I know, our neighbor called him and asked if he wanted to take all of the boys out to eat together.... Eddie said yes and next thing I knew, they were gone!

Eddie and Chuck are like brothers from another mother.  It's hilarious.  And these boys love each other like crazy.
I was not anticipating having the house to myself...! I quickly climbed in the bath and sat there for a reallllly long time.  Bruce was worried about me, I think... he brought over my sock....
....and then this picture came in.... all these boys at Top Of The Hill- hahaha! They had THE best time!

Bruce continued to bring me lovies- he's thoughtful like that.
The boys did not end up getting home until 10:00-- everyone was exhausted.  They were begging for sleepovers, but we denied them #meanmoms.  Early basketball games need rested boys!

Saturday morning, we were up and at 'em, heading to Andy's 9:15 game!
He loooooves playing basketball.  I think it might be his favorite sport...? Maybe? I can't be certain, but he sure does love it out there.  He had a great game and played hard.

We came home and I cleaned out the fridge and prepped a ton of food-- I was cutting strawberries and Andy was eating them faster than I could cut-- barely any made it into the fridge.
Cal had a basketball practice next-- I left Andy home with Eddie and I took Cal.  Wasn't super excited about practice in the middle of a Saturday (it's one thing if it's a GAME!), but it ended up being a really good practice! Only 6 kids came so they all got a lot of ball time.  He seemed to have fun!

We were going to do a sleepover Saturday night (now he's done one, he wants one all the time....), but everyone was super tired.  I think the late night the night before caught up with them.  Everyone- Bruce included- was in bed by 8.
The boys begged to sleep together-- it didn't last sadly.  Andy was up by 11, just chilling in my room.  Seriously, come ON kid!
Bruce was happy though:

Before Andy came into my room, this is how I found him when I checked on him.... legs all up on the dresser.  Bless him...

Sunday morning we didn't have anywhere to be until 11.  I was working like crazy around the house (don't you feel like as mom you are ALWAYS going and doing stuff??) when I realized it was super quiet in the play room.  I opened the door to this:

All three of the clowns know the furry clown is not supposed to be on the couch! But really they all looked so happy so I just backed out and pretended like I didn't see it...

At 11 the boys had a birthday party at Chuck E Cheese! Feels like we haven't been here in a hot minute.  Can't say I have missed the place too terribly..... but the boys sure do love it.  They can't get enough!

(yes, Cal got a haircut... the static this weekend was awful.  his hair was straight up bowl on his head the entire weekend.  i am aware.)

After the party, we came home and it was time for some flag football! Andy's group was first-- these cuties were super cute on the sidelines waiting their turn.
Andy's team is named the Shining Rhinos.  Of course they are.
Next up was Cal's turn (we were there from about 1-4).  His team is adorable! Love all these kiddos!
Cal had a rough go at flag football yesterday.  I'll be honest- it was a tough parenting moment.  He was wide open in the end zone but he wasn't passed the ball-- because the play was for the runner to RUN the ball-- so he stormed off the field CRYING.  Yes.  You read that right.  He was crying because he didn't like the play that was called.  You have got to be kidding me.  He was back talking Eddie- the coach- also.
We were pretty disappointed in his behavior-- and we have since discussed it at length.  Everyone can have an off day, of course... hopefully that's just what this was and we have nipped it.  Just keeping it real! That little guy gnawing on his mouthguard in the above pic was read the riot act...momma is NOT raising uncoachable kids.  I refuse!

**stepping off soapbox**
That's a look at our weekend! We came home from football, totally completely forgot about choir and ate a yummy dinner from Fresh Market.  Boys were bathed and read to and in bed by 7:00, asleep by 7:15..... laundry switched a few more time for me and then a book in bed! Bring on the week!

FRIDAY FAVES

It's been a while since I have shared any favorites! Here are a BUNCH!

.o.n.e.

This face cream... I was looking for a good moisturizer and the lady in Ulta recommended this stuff and I became hooked.  It's thick-- but not too thick.

So, after my obsession with that started, I was in Ulta buying more of it and decided to pick up this cute little sample pack:

I can actually tell a difference in my skin-- it's wild! I use the above routine in the morning: wash with the purity wash, use the microdelivery peel (it feels like a sugar scrub) and then while it's on, apply the microdelivery peel, part two (which is a liquid that goes over the part one to "activate" it or whatever... I leave that one for 2-3 minutes and then wash it off and finish with the anti-wrinkle miracle worker-- and that last moisturizer is kind of amazing.  Your face feels satiny all day.  It took some getting used to at first, but now I looooove it.

And at night, I wash with the purity again and then apply the stuff in the top picture: renewed hope in a jar.

Side note- this stuff is much cheaper on Amazon.  Just saying.

A Hundred Summers

Oh, how I enjoyed this book! It is a favorite for sure right now! I will add it to my January book report (which will hopefully be next week....if I can finish the two I am currently working on!).  I loved reading this-- and part of me wants to read it again.

patriots...!

Eddie went to Boston last week for the playoff game to determine which team would be heading to the Super Bowl.  He has a client who plays for the Patriots, so we were pulling hard for them to win...and they did! This is #61, Marcus Cannon-- he is the right tackle (protecting Tom Brady), so keep an eye out for him.  He is a great guy!

.f.o.u.r.

Have I posted about these "lettuce boats" before?  I found the recipe HERE of of Andrea's blog and they are a HUGE hit in my family.  I would strongly suggest doubling it though-- Eddie was out of town last week and the boys ate almost all of a single recipe-- I think they are growing! Made these with a side of brown rice and they were GONE! That, my friends, makes it a favorite up in here.

tennis!
I started taking lessons late last year at some point-- and I have never played before in my life-- and have LOVED it! It really is like an addiction...I want to play all the time! I was going to post about tennis sometime soon, but when the club posted this picture on instagram, I decided to share it and discuss!

After all these lessons, we have formed a team and we are going to start having matches...! EEEK! While I am terrified-ha!- I know the best way to improve is to actually PLAY.  So, here we go! Right now, getting exercise and laughing A LOT outside in the sunshine is a definite favorite of mine!

.s.i.x.
The TARHEELS are favorites of mine! I have really loved watching this season-- they just all look like they have so much fun playing together.
Thursday night, we went to dinner and then went to a game together.  It was such a treat! Our seats were incredible too (thank you, Sally!).

And this happened at the game and a friend posted this picture and I was dying laughing.  Kennedy Meeks is a favorite of mine for sure-- he has the best facial expressions ever!

.s.e.v.e.n.
Have y'all heard of these? Sally introduced them to me and they are BRILLIANT.  You can find them here or Omega carries them too.  They are called Lock Laces.

They are for lace up shoes-- Cal will NOT tie his shoes. He wears them loose and falling off and loves them like that- or so he says.  We got new shoes for school and the goal is to keep them around for 2 months (hopefully MORE!).  He walks right out of his shoes because they are  never tied, thuse ruining the shoes even faster.

I got these laces for both of the boys' shoes and laced them up today!

.e.i.g.h.t.
weight watchers. Ugh.  I wasn't even going to post about this at all, but it will help hold me accountable if I put myself out there.  As many of you know, I have done weight watchers before and had great success! It really works.  I saw a number on the scale this week that was about 4 pounds higher than my all time "OH SH*T" weight.  It made me sad and grumpy and not kind.  Thursday morning, I drove to the place and joined.  Obviously I am not sharing my starting weight, but I will share my pounds gained/lost each week.  Today is only my second day doing it, but I am really excited about this.  I need to retrain my brain-- I was in the habit of mindlessly eating- constantly.  I looooove the weight watchers app and I have been obsessed with plugging in each thing I eat.  It makes you think twice before eating something when you see how many points it has!! (chick fil a sauce is something I love to eat- ONE little container of that yumminess is SIX points.  That's a lot....)
And so, WW is going to be my favorite right now.  It isn't going to be easy, but I will be so glad I am doing this.  I got on the scale Thursday morning in my bathroom and again Friday morning and already there was a difference.  I can't wait until my clothes fit better too.  I will post from weight in next week-- hoping I am DOWN!

n.i.n.e.
haircuts are a favorite for me this week! These boys needed cuts terribly! Their hair was out of control wild.  It was taking shaggy to a whole new level.
Our barber shop is my favorite for sure.
*when did he get so huge???*

.t.e.n.
bruce. of COURSE he is a favorite around here.  I have been missing Hank like crazy-- guess I always will.  I had to go pick up meds at the vet for Bruce and I walked in and sobbed like a crazy person.  Bruce is due for several routine things and I honestly do not know if I will be able to take him in.  How ridiculous is that? Just pulling into the parking lot got the tears started.  I just miss that sweet face so much.  How can he be gone? I am focusing soooo much love and attention into Bruce- and the boys are too.
...even when he takes their stuffed animal and knows he isn't supposed to.....

Have a GREAT weekend! We've got games galore over here.  Hoping to spend some time curled up with a book too-- is that too much to ask?!

Life Lately: short and sweet

A quick little post for today-- there's not much to report about here-- same old, same old! School, play, homework, weekend games, repeat!

Cal has basketball practice on Thursdays-- Andy gets sucked into going along more times than he would like:

Hey, Cal: when in the world did you get so big?!
I got my hair cut last week and took close to 4 inches off.  Eddie didn't notice- hahaha when I told him how much was cut, he replied "well it must have been reallllly long, because it doesn't look any different to me!" Men! hahahaha It FELT different to me-- and truth be told, it probably didn't look that different when it was curled.  I straightened it this week and several people asked me if I cut it- go figure.

So this post was on instagram the other day (I need to get back to the instafunnies.... those posts made me laugh)---

and then my timehop popped up about 20 minutes later:
 TOO funny!

Speaking of Bruce-- he does NOT like it when carpool pulls away in the morning.  Eddie says when I leave in the morning he sits at the window crying nonstop.  Kinda breaks my heart a little!
Speaking of Bruce, he about got his head stuck in the stairs while I was rubbing him.  Love that scrunchy face.

Eddie was able to take Cal to basketball last week, so Nug and I had a date to Jersey Mikes while they were gone.  I am going to be real honest with you: the people that work at the Jersey Mikes are some of THE nicest people you will ever meet.  I mean that.  I have yet to go in there and not be greeted warmly by the most genuine people.  If you are local, do yourself a favor and take your kids in there.  My boys LOVE going because the subs are amaze (duh), but also because the people working there actually talk to them...and are sweet to them.   And can you even BELIEVE I am not being paid to say this?

Bruce went to pickup this week, but we had to swing by my mom's house-- Henry HAD to say hello!
I finally got around to framing some of these sweet pictures-- I blew them up to 8x10 and love the way they look!
Love them even more up on my wall!!!!

It's really too bad there are no boys in this neighborhood.  Monday after school, there were a TON of boys outside playing street football.  Makes me SO happy....

Nothing new going on around here!!! Not complaining :)
