Weekend Update

The theme of this weekend update is messed up plans- ha!

Friday, after teaching a fun class outside and picking up the boys, I started the getting ready process for The Carolina Ball- a gala benefiting the SECU Family House.  We go every year and we have the best time every year.

Thank goodness I started getting ready early because this little guy makes everything take a little longer! He sure is sweet though....

My parents weren't going this year, and my mom wanted to see the finished look....
And the back.... along with the nerf basketball goal....

We took a selfie in the car on the way there...

And ran into some friends in the parking lot as we pulled in!

We took a mirror selfie while we waited for the elevator...because, why not?
 Me and my date!

My girl Sall was on my best dressed list for the night.  Her dress was amazing...

I appear to be a giant next to Virginia....
We had a GREAT time celebrating a wonderful cause.  I love this event and we always have so much fun! After dinner we danced and danced and stayed up way too late.

Saturday morning we had a 9am soccer game.  It was early, but of course our boys were up wayyyyyy early- haha...after a long night, that early wake up came quickly!

We played a pretty miserable team, to be honest.  They had a little boy from Mexico on their team, who I am pretty sure came out of the womb playing soccer...and I am pretty sure he came out of the womb 8 years ago.  This league is 5 and under and this kid was a giant-- it was pretty awful playing against him.  And they had 2 other kids on their team who would shove and grab shirts to throw to the side.... it wasn't fun for anyone, sadly.  We were all thrilled when the game ended!

Everyone played great, but we were happy to end that game!

The original plan for the week was for Eddie and Poppy to take both boys to Winston for the Wake Forest/Army football game.  It had been the plan all week. I was going to have a day to myself--Eddie is traveling a bunch this week so I was going to have a day to clean and run errands and take a walk...all by myself!  Andy started in early saying he didn't want to go to the game; he was scared of the fireworks; he would miss mommy, and on and on and on.  When it came time to go, he FREAKED out.  Like total freak out.  I really wanted Eddie and Cal and Poppy to have a great day together and I didn't want them having to deal with Andy's meltdowns.  Andy also has been having poop issues this week and I didn't want Eddie having to take him to the potty every 4 seconds at the game.  So, Andy stayed behind with me.

Cal was so excited to go!

And, Andy's last little meltdown took its toll on him.  He was sound asleep at 11 am.  He slept hard for over 2 hours, until Bruce barked and woke him up.
While he slept, I cleaned like a freak.  I changed sheets and did one of those massive laundry days-- I think I did 8 loads of laundry...towels and sheets and clothes...! Non stop! I cleaned the playroom, which was long over due.  Obviously it doesn't stay that way for long, but it was so nice to see it clean all day Saturday!

Eddie sent me picture updates because that's what we do! Cal got a new hat-- can you tell how excited he is to be there?

When Andy woke up, we went on a lunch date to firehouse subs....

..and then we strolled the aisles of Trader Joes.
Truth be told, it wasn't the way I planned my Saturday, but it worked out nicely to have some alone time with Andy.  He enjoyed one on one attention from me and we had fun just the two of us.

When we got home, he hung out on the couch with the iPad while I vacuumed downstairs and mopped-- I was in seriously cleaning mode!

The boys came home from the game and I think the dads were worn out...

Sunday morning, the boys were playing SO nicely with their football guys.  They were happy and quiet-- it was perfect!
We had a birthday party at the museum at 12:30.  I was planning on taking the boys early to play a little before the party.  We showered and got dressed and as we were loading the car, Cal burst into tears...he said he had a headache and he just wasn't feeling well.  He felt a little warm to me so I brought him back inside where he curled up on the couch and asked to watch a movie.  He never asks to watch a movie-- only football-- so I knew he wasn't feeling great.  I texted the birthday boy's momma and gave CalBoy some advil.  He started feeling better right away (thank you, advil!), but I am glad we passed on the party.  I think everyone here is exhausted!

While he rested inside, I hooked Bruce up to an outside yard leash and picked up dog poop and pinecones in the front yard-- don't be jealous.  It was such a pretty day, I wanted to soak up some sunshine!

It's been a fun weekend with plans flip flopping around-- but still nice!
