Better late than never....weekend update

Last Friday, we loaded up the car and headed to South Carolina for Eddie's grandparents 70th wedding anniversary-- can we just take a minute to realize how long SEVENTY years is?! Holy moly.  The original plan was to go down for the lunch on Saturday and then turn around and come right back.  But that was a whoooole lotta car riding for two little boys I know, so we decided to head down Friday night, grab a hotel and then go to the lunch on Saturday and then head home.

We ended up hitting traffic at every single possible place to hit traffic.  It took us over 6 hours to get there.  Phew.  We checked into out hotel after nine and it was time to crash! Cal slept with me and Andy slept with Eddie-- Cal snuggled up immediately:

and soon was snoring-- with his arm around me.  Pretty darn sweet if you ask me.

We woke up Saturday morning with more snuggles happening.  Pardon my appearance.

We threw on grubby clothes and went over to Lala and Pops house to visit with them before the lunch.  Andy found great joy in Pop's walker.  (and he also wanted to wear jammies over there...whatever.)

Poppy rode down with us, so he was there for the morning visit too!

We hustled back to the hotel room and showered up and headed to the venue for the lunch.

Cal and Andy got to meet their second cousins (right? Eddie's cousins kids...?) What is Andy doing in this picture?? Honestly.....
The little boy above is Drew- he is 10 and plays football and Cal thought he was just amazing.  He brought some of his game footage and the boys were obsessed with watching it.

I am SO glad we got to take one of these pictures!!!! The four Calvin Edwin Williamsons!!! How amazing is this??

Someone else was standing next to me taking with a real camera, which is why the flash is all funky.

We had to throw Nug in too..... he actually ran up from behind and threw himself in.
The Williamsons.... Everyone's eyes are open and we are all smiling!

So when this party was scheduled, it happened to be on the same day as one of my best friend's birthdays....and not just any birthday, her big 4-0! I didn't want to miss the anniversary, and I didn't want to miss the birthday party and I was SO SO torn as to what to do.  Well, I ended up riding back with Trish and Tommy-- they would be faster getting back than the car with the kids #ihavetopee #andpoop #arewethereyet?

When I got in the car, Tommy told me to check the backpack, there was a surprise for me.... y'all!!!! look!
I have the most thoughtful brother in law around! We stopped an hour into the trip for mixers :) He said he didn't want me to show up to the party being the only sober one!

I changed in the car #classy and they stopped by the hotel so I could drop my bag and then they took me to the restaurant to meet all my friends! WOOOOO! Best in laws ever.

Yayyyyyy! I was sooooo happy to see everyone!!

After dinner, we went back to the hotel roof bar and had a few drinks...
and we ended the night in Virginia's hotel suite with an AMAZING cake and some awesome sparkler candles.
We devoured it.  And made a mess.  It was like we were rockstars..... or something.
The next morning-ish we had brunch in the lobby of the hotel--- it is a DJ brunch! So fun!!!!
My bacon was massive.  And it made me happy......?
 The sweet brunchers!

I ran from brunch straight to flag football-- I caught the second half of Andy's game and Cal's game.  It was a gorgeous day!!! Perfect day to be sitting outside! I was remembering last year for flag football-- we were wearing a million layers and frozen to the core.  This winter has been SO weird.

These two both ended up winning the sportsmanship award--- I know I know...Eddie is the coach of both teams, but when Andy's awards are handed out, Eddie is already on to Cal's team, and there is another coach on Cal's team who gave input on the award.... and each kid gets it once and the season is almost over. #processofelimination
 There was some celebrating.
Charlie won it too-- these cuties were happy boys.

They have these signs you are supposed to take your picture in front of if you get the award each week-- when we were walking to the car, we saw a friend carrying the sign out... he said you were supposed to put it in your front yard....! Who knew! hahah! But, uh, we still didn't take one.
 Heyyyy blue gatorade....
We got home from football and went straight over to the neighbor's house for a cookout in the cul-da-sec.
Chuck had a whole bloody mary station set up.

The cookout was sponsored by i9 sports.  Not really, but we could have fooled you.  Pretty sure Andy got poop on his shirt so he had to change.  Keeping it real, people.  The poo struggle lives on.

The kids ate and played a massive game of tag...or something.... and then it was time for showers because, peeeeeuuuuuuuuu.
The dads were not done socializing though.  While the moms corralled the kiddos, the dads hit the town.  On a Sunday night.  Wild and crazy men.

Also wild and crazy: bruce.

Extra long post but figured I had to get it up before the next weekend arrived.... and it's here! ha!
Eddie is gone, so it is me and the boys.... two basketball games, a baseball practice, two birthday parties....oh and a bum back.   These meds are working some magic though.  I can feel it.  Wishful thinking...???

Down and out, but not for long!

Well, hellooooo there.

I have a bunch to blog about.  We took a trip to SC for Eddie's grandparents 70th wedding anniversary. I had a night out celebrating a dear friend turning 40! The boys both won the sportsmanship award in the same week for flag football. And on and on and on.

But on Monday, I was just starting my workout when I managed to throw my back out.  It was ugly.  Basically I let out a scream as I dropped to the ground #embarrassing.  The pain was like child birth, and I would have paid for an epidural.  Eddie came and got me and got him home.

Tuesday I went to a PT and she said it was a slipped disc.  She gave me some moves to do to try to get the disc back into place.  It hurt too bad to attempt any of these moves.  She gave me strict orders to not stand for more than 15 minutes, no sitting or bending and to remain face down on the couch.  Good times.

My dear sweet friend told me I had to get to a doctor who could write a script to get some drugs to help with pain so that I could do the above exercises.

Yesterday I went to a spine doctor and she said yes, either slipped or herniated disc (I prefer to say slipped because herniated sounds scarier) and I got a bunch of good meds to help me out.  I swear, I could tell a difference with the big dog anti-inflammatory right off the bat.

Eddie was out of town yesterday.  Oh, and my parents are in Australia.  And Eddie leaves tomorrow for a week.  I have NO time to be on my face on the couch.

Thankfully I have the best friends in the world and they have been helping me a ton.  We had dinner brought to us last night-- so I didn't even have to think about it.  Another friend brought a load of lunchables so the kids lunches are done for the week-- not healthy, but really, who cares at this point?? I was ready to throw a poptart in there and call it good.

So! At some point, I will get around to blogging about all of the above things.  But it probably won't be today.  Although with these drugs, maybe I will be able to!

My goal is a quick trip to target today.  No more than 30 minutes... it's good for me.

Until then.... it's time to buck up, butercup!

Cotillion: fancy night out!

Eddie and I had a fancy night out last weekend! I always love an excuse to get dressed up (and RENT THE RUNWAY) and i find Eddie in a suit pretty darn irresistible.
It was held at the Carolina Inn, again- had to take a picture with Katie! She is the Popup Queen.

My fabulous brother was there- I had a great time hanging out with him too!

I love nights like this with Eddie-- we laughed a bunch, danced a bunch and just had fun together.
Speaking of fun: these were the girls at our table.... oh my WORD was that fun! These are the very best people in the world and I just adore them! They pick me up when I am down, they make me laugh, they are there for me whatever I need, whenever I need it.  I say this all the time: every girl should be so lucky to have people like this in her life.  I don't know what I would do without them!

Once again, I was in to taking a million pictures with my brother! My parents were out of the country #shocker, so I was sending them these-- they love pics with their kiddos! haha

As the night progressed, you could see I was dancing harder and harder-- the hair is a bit more dishelved, the stick on bra showing a bit more.....whoops.

We were home at a decent-ish hour, but waking up the next morning was not super enjoyable.  I sipped my tea out on the porch on the most gorgeous morning ever while Andy came and chatted with me- both in robes.  I ADORE this picture of him-- his blue eyes, his messy hair, the robe, the band-aid, the up to no good expression.... there is something about this picture that I love so very much.  Maybe it is just that he's as close to me as he can get.  I love that too.
 Until next year!

100th Day of School

So celebrating this 100 day of school thing has really become a....THING. Many parents groan and moan about this, but anything that makes this crew up and out the door excited about school and I am alllll over it!

Last year, when Cal was in kindergarten, he had to create a project with 100 objects on it.  He made a flower pot with 100 lollipops stuck in.  This year, Andy had to make a project AND dress up like a 100 year old.  Cal got to dress up also-- it was actually super cute.  Even if I did find myself at wal-mart, party city and dollar tree at 10:00 the night before...

Here is Andy with his project.  He counted (and recounted) 100 cheerios.  This was painful, y'all.  This kid knows how he wants to do something, and he does not want input.  (hush, mom.....I know he is SO me....).

I suggested he spread out the cheerios evenly between numbers-- Cal was quick to point out he could put 40 in the 1, and 30 in each of the 0s (I had to count that in my head when he said that).  That makes sense to me and my OCD self.  Not Andy.  He wanted to put them where he wanted to put them.  So there.  I bit my tongue and watched him work.  Boy was he proud.

The morning of the 100th day, we styled the hair and then sprayed it gray.  These glasses are actually readers-- with prescription lenses.... I couldn't find any non prescription lenses when I went to buy...!

A little blurry, but here are my sweet old men.

This next picture cracks me up-- Andy is hunched over like an old man...HA!
I told him to stand up straight and this is what I got!

Holy cow do I love them!
 Showing me their hair.
We picked up Mae and headed to school.  I seriously could not stop laughing the whole ride there.  Every time I looked in the rear view mirror, this is what I saw:

I mean-- tell me this isn't hysterical.

Walking into the retirement home:
and that means we are over the half way mark in the school year!
