Weekend Update: gooooo HEELS!

The weekend flew by, and we were busy busy for a good part of it.

Friday, after Popup, I took a tennis lesson with Pippa.  I have never played before and we were seeing if it was even something we would like to try.  It was SO fun! I wasn't good- at all- but that's why we are taking lessons! It is fun to think of a new potential hobby. Everyone we saw out there was so encouraging about us trying tennis.  We rewarded ourselves with some wine with lunch :).

 I picked up Andy from school and then we took the dogs on a walk and then went to grab Cal- Hank wanted to join us:

We came home to play for a bit before heading to the club for a cocktail party and to watch the Carolina game.

Apparently, the sun was more intense than I thought and I got some fabulous tan lines... whoops.

  I decided to wear the shirt anyway....

The boys were decked out in their Carolina gear for the game-- these outfits are good luck!!

We got home late and everyone was tired and both boys wanted me at the same time. We found humor in this and Cal suggested we take a picture... and I am glad he did:

The best kind of chaos!

Saturday was 100% pure craziness.  Eddie was in a golf tournament that was pretty much all day.  He was able to come to the first game of the day- Andy's basketball game at 8am.  It was early.  Whew.

It was his last game and he did great! After the game,we dropped Eddie off with his golfing buddies and then headed to the house to get some fun chores done... sadly, that vacuum won't run itself (speaking of... anyone want to sell me a roomba? I think we need one...big time.).

The next game was at 11:40: Cal's first soccer game of the season.  The team was very small for this game-- they had to have a player for the other team fill in our missing spot (Andy was asked to play and he declined- said they were too old for him...ohhhhhkay.....).  It was hot out and those boys played without a sub the entire game.  It was fun to watch him back out there again!

We came home briefly and then went to our next game: Cal's last basketball game!

Cal had soooo much fun playing in this game! It was really great watching him on the court- and his little fist pump after each basket.

We left Cal's game and headed to the movies to see Zootopia with Pippa and her kids...we brought our own drinks ;)

After a BUSY day, it felt really nice to sit still in the theater.  Well, except I had this one next to me...who ended up on my lap.  I know I will miss him sitting on my lap in theaters one day...

We came home and were all tired.  Eddie had just walked in and was even more worn out from a day of golf (insert eye roll here-haha).  I bathed the kiddos and got everyone in bed and then I sat down to watch the Carolina game... this guy wanted to be alllllll up on me:

Finally he decided to lie down and watch the game too:

At half time, I went up and washed my face and got ready for bed and was going to watch second half in bed.  Cal woke up with a bad dream and I got him back to sleep again- he woke up a second time and asked about the game so I decided to bring him into bed with me to watch the second half-- 

We snuggled up and he did not move from this spot.  He very rarely snuggles any more so this was a little slice of heaven for me.

We were pumped to spot Ms. Amy on TV-- we had to rewind and take a picture:

After the game, we turned off the TV and Eddie came up and caught this picture:

Sunday morning, we turned the clocks forward and got our days started.  I told the crew peace out and set out on my own for an hour or two.  I had some errands to run and needed to get out without someone in tow talking to me constantly.  I went to World Market and the mall and Target- fun times for me.

I met the crew at flag football where I got to see Andy get a touch down, Cal make a big run, and then Cal get a touch down.  It was awesome!

It was kind of an action packed weekend around here!

Our neighbor was kind enough to show Andy some worms that he is going to take fishing:

We wrapped up the weekend with some homework, grilling out and prepping for the week.  

We are off to the beach next weekend, so no games for us....! Not sure we will know what to do with a game-free weekend....

Life Lately

Weeeeehoooooo, happy Hump Day!

I am spending the day volunteering in the boys' schools.  First in Andy's at the African Market and then at Cal's, helping some kids with technology (yikes...).  Not a really fun "day off" but it will be good for me!

Here's a look at life lately...

My life has been all consumed by listening to After You. I read Me Before You and loved it- and took a little break and decided to listen to the next one.     It was wonderful! I think I am going to read more by this author.  I loved tuning out and falling into this book. I found myself wanting to listen constantly- driving down the road, brushing my teeth, walking the dogs, etc...

Other than that....

We've got Mexico right around the corner so we needed to assess the swim suit situation...some things were a tad bit tight... 

After school on Monday, Andy had a play date with his buddy Brady.  He was SO excited to get to go over to his house to play.  

 Brady's sweet mom sent me some pictures of the boys playing--and climbing on top of things. 

While he was there, I ran to the mall...and it was glorious! I had a gift card I needed to spend and I had a return to make. 

I ended up getting this dress-- thought it was fun and would be cute with a tan :)

Monday night Cal had soccer.  These stinky boys came home and went straight to the shower-- love their little smirks as they got out.  They were up to NO good.

I made Patty's lasagna Monday night-- and it was a huge hit! I took a pic of the recipe in case you need an easy lasagna night. 

While the food was cooking (I made it all before soccer and then cooked it when we came home), Cal hung out in his robe and took a load off.  

Tuesday was a SPECIAL day! It was Hank's 11th birthday! We love this sweet boy so so much and we are lucky to get to love on him every day.  

Clearly, Andy loves loving on him... this is a common occurrence in this house:  

I walked in to find Andy like this- thought it might last through the night...but before I knew it, he was on the floor with Hank.  Of course he was. 

Tuesday the weather was ah-mazing.  We played out in the driveway and had races on scooters (me and Andy...)

Then Cal challenged me and Andy to a basketball game.  Bring it on.  

I don't think Cal thought I came to play.  I shut him down. hahaha Eddie walked up half way through and said "uh, Care, you can go easy on him..." No, no I can't.  He has been a punk lately and it felt good to slam it in his face a time or two.  (I sound like the meanest mom ever....hahahaha)

We got a little cupcake for our sweet boy's birthday....

 He was super happy and excited-- he kept looking up at me like "did you mean to give this to me??"

I did Popup Tuesday night and I swear, I thought I was going to puke, numerous times.  It kicked my rear... and was just what I needed.  I was already sore from Monday-- guess I am a glutton for punishment. 

 There's a quick look at life lately-- nothing too exciting going on here! Eddie is getting ready to go out of town so me and the boys will be making it happen!



 

Weekend Update! Ballin'

Such a fun weekend!! Warmer weather is coming and with that will bring more beach trips, which we are thrilled about, but we are also really enjoying our busy weekends here too. 

My parents had my brother's kids for the weekend so we all went over to their house Friday night for dinner.  Talk about CHAOS...! Holy cow, it was loud and crazy! We ate and headed home by 7.  It is always nice for the cousins to see each other though!

Saturday morning we were up early for Cal's 8am game.  Andy did his hair and was ready to go!

Sweet Laura sent me this picture of the two brothers watching the game- love their smiles. 

I missed his game because I was teaching KIDSPOP during that time! 

We all met back at the house and then soon thereafter, we loaded up to head out to Andy's game.  The Red Dragons had another great game.    #undefeated

 One of the moms overheard the other team's coach say "where did these guys come from? They are like an AAU team." Another mom commented that knowing the difference between offense and defense gives us a leg up-- hahahaha

It was the second to last game to medals were handed out-- Andy was thrilled.  He has watched his brother get one and he was pumped to actually get his own-- not one that he has stolen when Cal isn't looking...

After the game, we came home and I got to work baking cookies... Our buddy Will turned 15 and was having around 15 of his buddies over to his house to watch the Carolina game.  I offered my cookies (which, I know are a favorite of his) and he jumped all over the idea.  

We delivered 36 cookies to Will and his buddies and we had to get a picture with the birthday boy.

We went to the club for the BIG UNC/dook game and we had so much fun! Everyone came with their kids and they put us all in a room with a huge flat screen.  Everyone had a lot of fun and...

 UNC won!!!! WOOOOOHOOOOOOOO! It was such a great game and then ending had me about sick to my stomach.  So much fun watching with a big group of friends. 
They probably could have heard us screaming in Durham....

My father in law has a small love of dook that we will not discuss on here, but he was trying to smack talk me the whole game.  It was hilarious-- so after the game, Cal put on his Davidson sweatshirt (Poppy's alma mater) and we sent him this picture and told him to just focus on Davidson- hahaa

We got home late and got the kids in bed and after changing into comfy clothes, the dogs crawled right into my lap.  I sat on the floor loving on them for a while...mainly because I couldn't get up, but also because it was sweet. 

Sunday morning was slow moving... I may or may not have been slightly hungover.... holy margarita. I got myself moving and did a bunch of housework.  We had loads of laundry to do, loads of dog hair to vacuum up and a ton of stuff that just needed to be sorted/thrown away.

I also gave the boys bathroom a little attention.  We bought the below shower curtain and mat when I was pregnant with Andy... it was time to upgrade a little.  The shower curtain has been peed on-- a lot, and I can't even think about that mat.  Obviously we have washed it a bunch, but it just looks gross now.  

I got the curtain and mat at Target and after I hung it up, Andy walked in and covered his mouth and said "oh, mommy! It is just amazing! I love it so much!" HAHAHAHA Guess a new one was needed-- great reaction from him!

While I was going around the house like a tornado, the boys curled up on Cal's bed to have a little iPad time together.  This led to a massive fight, but it was super sweet for a few minutes.  

After them being lazy and me getting junk done, it was time to head to football. It turned out to be a gorgeous day- maybe slightly chilly, but the sun felt great.

The boys just eat this stuff up.  I say it every week, I know I do.  They just love playing flag football.  And I love seeing them so happy!

The rest of our weekend involved yard work and me taking a looooong bath listening to my book.  Peace! I needed it!
