Weeend Update

Wow, this is a busy, but fun time! I guess that's life for us now-- just really busy!

I feel like I am only blogging weekend updates and carriedaway posts, but that will suffice for now.  The week is just jam-packed with stuff and there is no time to write posts.  Soccer is over now, so we have a little more time until the next activity starts...not much, but some!

This weekend was a special one because we had a special visitor: CB! This sweet woman (Eddie's sister) really wanted to come to a soccer game (she's a realllllly good aunt!!!!) so she came to town-- is that not the sweetest???

Friday after school, I did some cleaning around the house-- Bruce, who is not allowed out of the kitchen, flew over the couch and pretended to be a pillow while I was vacuuming... so sneaky, B.

We went out to dinner Friday night before heading to the airport to get CB.  When we got home, we opened up a bottle of wine and CB and I worked on a puzzle and drank and called Tricia....who was driving ACROSS THE COUNTRY, from LA to NC.
(also, my eye looks all kinds of funky.  I had a fuzzy from my sweater all worked into my eye.  I pulled it out and my eye was a watery mess.  Pardon the pic)

When we finally went to bed, Hank had already sent himself to bed and was snoozing on Andy's sleeping bag.  Which he sleeps in every night.  It's actually pretty cute...Hank sleeps on the sleeping bag until Andy comes in to get in it (because he is the world's worst sleeper....) and then Hank moves to his bed...it's like he warming Andy's spot for him! Or, it's like I am trying to find some cuteness in the BS that is Andy's sleep patterns.  Either way.

Saturday morning was the Ducks last game! Here is most of our team staring into the sun.

The boys got medals and they were proud!

Cal and Andy played SO hard this game and I was a proud momma.  Cal has been working hard all season, but Andy didn't really come around until the end.  Well, he now loves it as much as his brother and truly likes playing now.  It takes him a minute each game to kinda remember what to do, but once he gets his feet wet, he does great! He does NOT like when he has to sub out and he wants to keep playing the whole game! He scored this last game-- a legitimate goal-- by dribbling the ball all the way down the field and shooting it in.  And he scored in the correct goal, which is always something to celebrate with Andy..... I am so thankful he decided he likes it!

We came home from the game and watched some football-- these two had some serious snuggle time on the couch.  Andy kept that medal on for the whole day.

Saturday afternoon we had a pig pickin at a friend's house so CB kept the boys for a while for us! I didn't take any pictures there, but a friend did and sent this one to me....

When we came home on Saturday, I had Cal write "WELCOME HOME" on a brown paper bag for Tricia and Tommy.  I filled the bag with North Carolina goodies as a welcome bag for them.   I love that Cal is so into writing his letters and now writing words.  He really wants to start reading...

I changed into comfy clothes as soon as I got home and Bruce climbed into my lap.  I look like a house in the below picture, but I love how Bruce thinks he's a lap dog- haha.

Sunday, the boys put on their new shirts from CB and we had to take some pictures! CB's manfriend is in the military and they got the boys these adorable shirts!

My dad's birthday is this weekend and for his present, I had the boys get into their race car driver costumes to take a picture with my dad's race car.  It isn't really a race car, but it looks like one. We took a picture before, on the front porch....

And then the boys asked to take out picture.... this is what they came up with...
 Framer!!!

And here were the pictures of the boys in front of the car....

Sunday night we had swim practice and then we were ALL exhausted!!!! It was a fun weekend with CB!!!

Day 295: shadows freaking us both out.

Day 296: bright sun got them both.

Day 297: football playing power ranger army men. Exactly how I imagined my Friday afternoon.

 Day 298: Happy Halloween!

 Day 300!!!!: Go Heels!

Weekend Update

Friday night was Halloween, which I blogged about here.

We woke up Saturday TIRED.  It was raining outside so soccer was canceled, so I decided to go do a popup workout.  I needed to jolt my system a little bit! It felt so good to have that done by 10!
The rest of Saturday was lazy and it was fantastic! We watched football, did laundry, watched more football and just hung out.

Saturday night we met up with some friends and their kids-- three boys-- at a restaurant downtown.  We had a table out on the patio (covered on the sides) and the boys were WILD! It was so much fun!

I failed at taking pictures-- it was slightly crazy in there- but this one below was perfect for the night: there was a little couch off by the side where we ate, and the boys were tackling the tar out of each other...obviously putting on quite a show! HA! Fairly sure the restaurant was thankful to see us leave. We commented at least 20 times how nice it is to go out with people who "get" boys and their energy levels.  If only we could bottle the energy from these 4 older ones, we would be so rich....

Sunday morning, the time changed....blah.  The boys have handled the time change fairly well.  The pup, not so much.  He is up and ready to go EARLY.  I am trying to "train" him back into sleeping later, but it isn't easy! I was doing laundry (side note: why do I feel like I am drowning in laundry? Obviously it is because of the weather and the layers and the activities which require change of clothes......but MAN! I can not get ahead of it!), and walked out of the laundry room to find Andy hoarding some football players and helmets... he looked so cute with all of them in his shirt.

So, we had TWO back to back birthday parties at Pump it Up this weekend.  That is 4 hours of pure fun and excitement...for the kids.  Well, when I received the evite for the first one, I clicked on the date to add it to my iCal.  I received a notification that it was over day light savings, or something like that...so I clicked "OK" and moved on.  I loaded up the boys and headed to pump it up for our 1:30 party....only to find out it didn't start until 2:30.  My iCal didn't adjust the time from the evite.  So we drove around for an hour; got gas, drove through a car wash, etc...just extra bonding time with the boys...! They were MORE than ready to play with 2:30 rolled around!

The first party was for Jack....
 ...and Lilly!

Cal was in class with Jack and Lilly last year and is with Jack this year.  The three of them adore each other and I love watching them play and interact and talk.

After the jump part of the party, the group for together for the group shot:

And then they had some snacks and cake....

And Jack and Lilly's mom asked Cal to sit in the birthday chair with them- hahahaha Cal felt super special!

After we said thank you to everyone at the first party, we walked out of the room and instead of turning right to head to the parking lot, we turned left and walked back into the party room! The boys had a great time at the second party too...but I could tell they were starting to get tired.  They weren't jumping quite as high or running quite as fast- haha

Owen had a surprise visit from a ninja turtle, which everyone loved (minus Andy....).  Here is the group shot from that party:

After the jumping part, the kids all went into the room to have some pizza and cake.  This is when I started to really feel tired....and the boys clearly were too....

Andy could barely hold his head up while eating cake.  His head kept sliding off his little hand.  Poor kid was exhausted! Daylight savings plus 2 parties wore his fanny out!

I guess Cal thought he needed to get in this birthday chair again...he hopped right up there and posed- ha! Whoops...

Sunday night we were all spent.  I mean overly tired.  I looked over to see Bruce spooning with Beyonce (we named this dog that....just because....).

Spending 16 hours at pump it up on Sunday didn't help my laundry over load.  Maybe I will accomplish it all this week...?

#carriedaway: week 39

Week 39:

Day 287: this sweet guy doesn't care that I stink after a looooong day and a workout tonight. Or maybe he does. (Every time I would whistle to get him to look, he would cut his eyes up at me-- made me laugh)

Day 288: "let me tell ya 'bout my best friend..."

Day 289: cocktail hour at soccer practice

 Day 290: annnnnnnd goodnight

 Day 291: go heels!!!

Day 292: I love being his mom. As difficult as he is, I am crazy about this boy.

Day 293: stir it in my witch's brew. He's got magic......

A Busy Thursday

This past Thursday (the day before Halloween), we had a FILLED day.  That morning was a teacher workday so the boys and I headed to school. The teachers were SO productive and the kids had a blast playing with the other teachers' kids.  It's amazing how needed that workday was.

Before we left for school, I had to get the boys dressed.  Andy was rocking his new Halloween jammies and his race car hat.  He loved that thing.

After the workday, we headed to the dentist for the boys' teeth cleaning! Cal does great at the dentist-- he is a big boy and goes on his own without me.  The last time Andy went, he got real nervous and I basically had to hold him down.  This time, he told me he wanted to go on his own--without me-- just like Cal does.  I was thrilled with this news!

When they came out and called both boys back, Andy grabbed my hand at the last minute and said, "you can come too, Mommy..." and my heart lurched and I was so so thankful he wanted me there.  Andy walked ahead of me, right beside the hygienist and she was talking to him and he was chatting away with her! I just pretended to not be there and he did SO well!

Since this was his first time in the chair all by himself, she walked him through every tool she would be using and he got to touch and hold everything.  He was so big....and I was so proud.

Then I glanced down at Cal on the end-- sunglasses on, pretending the chair is a surf board- hahhaah! I don't have to worry about this one!

His teeth looked great and she commented how great he is doing brushing them.  Phew.

We have been really concerned with Andy's finger sucking because it seems like it is all.the.time.  The dentist looked at them and had zero concerns about it.  ZERO.  She said he must not be sucking that hard because his back teeth are all lining up great and his front teeth are barely moved out.  We decided not to tell Andy that- ha! But we were relieved to know he isn't giving himself the world's worst buck teeth ever.

Andy got to hold the sucker thing-- it was hysterical.

Here is the dentist checking him out at the end.  She was impressed with his brushing skills too!

After the dentist...and the report of two CAVITY FREE BOYS, we ran home to eat lunch and get showered and ready because we were going to meet Amber for our annual family pictures! I am anxious to see how they turned out, because these two were pretty darn adorable if you ask me!

We took them outside by this trail that had gorgeous sunlight and really pretty leaves.

Fingers crossed that she was able to get at least one good one we can use as a Christmas Card picture! We were all taking one together- the 4 of us- and I glanced down to see Andy holding up his middle finger in the picture.  Nothing says "we wish you a Merry Christmas!" like a 3 year old giving you the bird.

Merry Merry!
