3 year check up

On the Monday, after Cal's party, Cal had his three year check up bright and early.  My mother in law as still in town, so thankfully I didn't have to bring Andy with us.

Cal was weighed and measured-- his first time standing on the scale and standing against the wall-- and walked down the hall like a big boy.  He got a Buzz Lightyear toy for his birthday and insisted that Buzz come with us.  Buzz makes a TON of noise, so it made it interesting to talk to the doctor while Cal and Buzz were chatting, but that was okay.

Cal also had to get his eyes checked this visit.  They started out showing him a bunch of shapes on a piece of paper that he could hold.  He nailed all of the shapes.  Then he had to stand behind a line and identify the shapes that the nurse pointed to.  Cal would smile each time and say "I don't know" to every.single.shape.  He thought it was soooo funny.  The nurse didn't really see the humor.  Sigh.  We have to work on that, I guess...

The doctor checked him out and said everything looked great, thankfully.  I am just so thankful to have a HEALTHY and happy son (two of them!).

Here are his stats from the visit:

Weight: 33 lbs ---- 75th percentile
Height: 38.5 inches ----- 75th-85th percentile
Body Mass Index: ~50%
Blood Pressure: (first time having this checked) 90/58

Dr. Kathy was pleased with everything she saw and again, I am just thrilled for a healthy kiddo! She was amazed that he's only been in for one sick visit.  Hopefully we can keep that up!

Cars Party

So, can you guess the theme of the party??

Cal is still really into Cars and all that goes with that movie so I figured it would be an easy theme to run with.  I didn't want to be too cheesy with over the top Cars stuff, but I think it might have gotten that way.  Whatever.  It was cute and Cal liked it-- what more could a momma want?!

Playnation is an indoor play facility with bounce houses, inflatable slides and playgrounds... basically a kids' dream land.

Here are some pictures from the party...

The table set up...I found some Mater hats for the kids to wear (if they would do it....).

Cupcakes...

 More of the table...

With daddy before the party started...

 Me and my CalBoy...

 I mean..... come on....

Excited to have Mimi there to party...

CB with the birthday boy...

Obviously, I had to get in on the fun before the guests arrived...
Cal's face in this picture makes me so happy
Mimi took Andy down the slide too! Andy LOVES that slide.  He was going down it solo in no time.

Eddie went with both boys...

Andy's first solo ride...

Happy!

 The Grandmas...

 My dad and brother....

It was seriously SO hard to get a picture of Cal.  He was running everywhere constantly.  I would try to get him to hold still and then he would spot something else he wanted to do and the picture would turn out like this:

One thing I thought was really neat was the handprint wall.  They trace the hands of the kids who have parties there and write their name in them.  Cal thought this was neat too...

When you have a party there, you are assigned party attendants.  We got these two girls and let me just tell you-- they were FABULOUS! There was a sign saying "Tipping the party attendants is optional, but appreciated!" and I sort of scoffed at it thinking that we were paying enough for the party there.  After about 10 minutes of watching these girls run around with the kids, ALL of the parents there wanted to tip them AND ask them to babysit!! HA! They were so wonderful with the kids and Cal was just smitten with them both.  He wanted to hold hands with them constantly, which was just precious.

Back at the party, Andy was continuing to go down the mega slides.  He went down other slides too, and flew off the end of them repeatedly.  Eddie, who is not used to Andy's park antics, was panicked pretty much the entire time- haha.

After play time, we headed into the party room for some pizza and cupcakes.  Some of the kids (and adults) wore the Mater hats...

Again, can you tell Cal is having a fun time?

My niece, Catherine, is on the right-- is she not adorable? I am a sucker for pigtails.

The party room with the kids...

 Stuffing his face...

Blowing out the candle...

Taking a break to kiss nugget...

The group! This was the best we could do-- some were still running around, some had already left... sweet friends!

Cal had so much fun celebrating with his friends and family and I had the best time watching him be so happy.  I gotta tell you-- after hosting his last party at our house, it is SO much easier to have it somewhere else! They helped set up and clean up and those little party attendants served the kids.  It was awesome!

I am still in shock that CalBoy Williamson is THREE!

Cal's Birthday WEEK

This might be a long post-- forgive me now...

CalBoy turned three on Sunday the 16th.  My sister-in-law, Carrie, and my mother-in-law were all planning on coming to town for the big day.  We had lots of fun things planned for the weekend, including a party!

Since there was sure to be lots of chaos and lots of present opening, we kicked off Cal's birthday with a little family celebration at my mom and dad's house on Thursday evening.  We walked in and Cal was SO SO SO excited! He stood in excitement for a minute and then started tearing open the goods.

After opening the presents, we cooked out for dinner.  It was such a nice night, so we played on the back deck.  Both boys were so happy and having a great time.

After dinner, we had a cake and Cal got to do his favorite thing: blow out the candles!!!

We headed home and Cal was grinning ear to ear.  He was a happy boy!

Friday, Andy had school and after naps, I took the boys to a high school field hockey game to watch our babysitter play.  It was hilarious to watch the boys wave frantically at Kate while she was running around.  After the game, in which they lost in a hard-fought nail biter ending, Kate came over to the fence which was below where we along with all the parents were sitting.  Cal SCREAMED: "Hey Kate! Next time you gonna have to run fasssster!" Everyone, and I mean everyone, turned to look at Cal.  The entire team, the entire other team, both sets of coaches, all of the parents....everyone.  It was funny, but I was so embarrassed! My pediatrician (Kate's mom) came over and was laughing so hard she couldn't catch her breath.  Good stuff.  Glad my kid can set people straight!

Saturday morning, we were up and at 'um early for Cal's first soccer game!!! Woohoo! Cal had a great time playing-- not sure he is totally grasping the idea yet, but he has a ball running from one end to the other.  We did learn that he does NOT like to ride the bench and does not take well to "go take a break and grab some water." He would yell back "I no want water and I do NOT want a break!" Eddie and I were trying hard not to laugh, but come on.... that's pretty funny.

Our little Heffalump:

Andy was pretty sure that he'd like to play too...

TCU was kicking off at 12:30, so we had to don our apparel (minus Eddie):

It just so happened we were playing Brad's team-- how fun is that for the first game??!!
Team meeting pre-game.  I walked up and Cal was talking (to...really no one) saying "we hafta go faster and faster...." The little girl looking up at him was like, "who in the world is this kid??"

Getting ready for the game to begin.  Not sure why, but those two little boys on the other team held hands every time we started-- hilarious.

And he's off!

Me and Nugget watching from the sides

And then...he was told to take a break....(they can only play so many kids at once....)

At the end of the game, they slap hands in a line.  Cal put out both arms like an airplane...just, you know, in case someone wanted to sneak up on the other side...??

Heffalump cheer:

 And here are the Heffalumps!

It was the most gorgeous day ever and we had fun playing soccer, but we had to get home for some TCU football!

I made a few dips and made the boys lunch, then made cupcakes for the party the next day.  The boys napped, we watched TCU win (woohoo!) and when they went to bed for the night, I got to work.

My mom used to (and often still does!) decorate the dining room table for us for our birthdays.  I wanted to do something like that for my kids too.  It was such a good memory growing up and I am hoping to create that for the boys too.  On our birthdays, my mom makes us feel like the most special person in the world (actually, she does that pretty much daily, but still...).  You catch my drift.

I started decorating when Cal went to bed...

Lightning even left him a birthday card...

The next morning, his actual birthday, Eddie and I both went in to his room.  He couldn't believe a T-REX had walked into his room while he was asleep! He was waiting for him next to his bed.  (This is a tradition I am hoping to start-- putting a present by their bed/outside their door so when they wake up, they have something right away).

I ran ahead of the boys to get pictures as they came down the stairs.  He was beside himself happy at this point...

Cal opened presents immediately and was just happy as could be.

One of my mom's friends saw a picture I posted on facebook with both boys in dino jammies so she told me her sons used to be obsessed with dinosaurs and she told me about this costume she bought for them many years ago.  She wanted to pass it along to more boys who would enjoy it.  Cal put it on immediately:

giving his best ROAR!

It was raining pretty much the entire day, so we were THRILLED we weren't having the party outside! Eddie's mom arrived around noon and they ran to party city to pick up balloons.  I put the boys down for naps early since Cal's party was starting at 4:15.  Andy went down great, Cal opted out of a nap... oh well!

I will write about the party in the next post.... gotta spread these puppies out!
