Weekend Update

This weekend feels like it flew by! I was really bad about taking pictures, which is so not like me...!

Friday, I had big plans to go to popup and then play tennis-- but, a teacher at my school had a family emergency and needed me to sub. It was DADS and DUDES day and the school and *someone* was super excited... I am not naming names... but it was both of these guys:

I will share more pictures from that in a later post-- that was a big perk of being there; I got to take a bunch of behind the scene pics and send to my friends.

Friday night, we went to the club and met some friends for dinner. It was a low key night for us and we all went home fairly early.  Everyone was tired, I think.  It was still fun-- I love our friends.  (no pictures taken...!)

Saturday morning, Eddie had something super early, so it was me and the bozos.  I was teaching popup at 9, so we were out of the house by 8:10- with a whole lot of STUFF.  Andy had a soccer game at 10, so sweet Meredith and her crew picked him up and got him to the game on time.  After class, Cal and I cleaned up (thankful for Katherine, who also helped, big time!) and we got to Andy's game just in time to hear someone yell, "great goal, Andy!" He played really hard and it was really fun to watch him.  He scored a few more goals, but the best part was watching him dribble the ball-- it's starting to click for him! I remember watching Cal play when I realized it clicked-- it just makes it more fun to watch.

After Andy's game, we headed to Cal's game at 11:30, whew! Eddie met us there after he was done with his meeting.  Here's the thing: Cal's team is good.  Like, really good.  These kids have all been playing together for two seasons and they play well together (while having fun!).  The team they played on Saturday was....young.  There is a chance they have never kicked a ball before.... I think this was their first game.  And they had only had maybe one practice.  It was kind of painful.  Rules started being added: you have to pass 5 times before you can shoot, you have to pass to the goalie twice before you can pass to anyone else, etc etc.... pretty sure the parents on the other team were ready to end it at half time.  Our kids still had fun though, so that's good!

We headed home after the game. Everyone was talking about the UNC lacrosse game that was going on Saturday afternoon (starting at noon), and the boys were determined to go to it.  Eddie left straight from soccer to go play golf, and I knew the dogs had been in since 8:00.  We let them out and did a few random chores and then decided to go to the game.  It took us forever to park and we got there in the 4th quarter (but at least we got there, am I right?!).

It was SUNNY and hot, but such a beautiful day! When we walked in, UNC was down by 5-- and they ended up winning by 2! It was so exciting-- and this kid has decided he's obsessed:

Sitting right next to us was this guy-- Nate Britt, who plays basketball for Carolina.  I couldn't get a good look at him without staring, but after 3 different groups walked over to ask for a picture, I took a selfie with him in the background and asked Sally who he was-- she knew immediately! Cal started starting and once I told him who it was, the boys wanted a picture with him-- he was soooo sweet.

We left at the end of the game (we were there like 30 minutes...!) and the boys wanted to play lacrosse in the driveway-- add that to some of the yard "art" we have going on currently.

Saturday night, we had plans to go to a party-- but then the hostess got pneumonia and had to cancel last minute... but we already had a sitter, so we decided to go out on a date anyway!

I got a new curling wand and wanted to try it-- it was MUCH harder than I thought it would be...and I am not sure I liked the final results... maybe I need more practice...

I took front and back pictures- haha
I woke up Sunday morning and was impressed that the curls were still there-- I thought for sure they would be gone.  They actually lasted the entire day... crazy.

We had to run to the grocery store on Saturday to get some food for the sitter to feed the boys for dinner and Andy grabbed a big bag of cuties (the small oranges) and begged me to get them-- it didn't take a whole lot of begging, obviously.

Well, he woke up Sunday morning and ate one immediately. And then he asked for another.  And then another.  By 9am, he had had 4.  You'd think he would be a pooping machine, right? I wish.  ugh.

The boys spent the entire day outside Sunday.  It was one of those beautiful days where the sky is the brightest blue and the temperature was not too hot and not too cold.  Heaven.  HEAVEN.  I love living here.

I realized I hadn't taken any pictures and then I went to take one of the boys in the driveway and I heard them in the back yard-- it was an INTENSE game of football! I took this picture through the screen.  And it turned out fantastic....hahaha

These two played lacrosse, baseball, football, basketball, bike races and everything else in between.  My driveway was COVERED for the whole day.  And I loved it!
I have said it before and I will say it again- I am so glad they have each other.  They fight like crazy, but they are so so close.  And they have SO much fun together!

We decided to take one more walk/bike ride.  I love the bright blue skies...and the little people riding along :)

That's a look at our weekend-- nothing really special, but I'll take it! Eddie left to go out of town for a few days so I spent some time cooking Sunday night to have dinners ready to go.  Cal begged for meatloaf since daddy was going to be gone-- deal! yummmmmm!

Hope y'all had a great weekend! Bring on the week!

Weekend Update

We had a BUSY weekend! So busy (and so picture filled), that I am having to split this post into two because it would be WAY too long otherwise.

Friday night, there was the Habitat for Humanity Fashion Show that I got to walk in.  Y'all- it was so much fun.  I loved my dress and had a blast getting my hair and makeup all done up.  This was fun:

...but it was so great having the boys in it too....! They wore clothing from Glee Kids and this was a picture the store posted to their instagram page.... I mean.... so stinking cute.
I have 800 pictures from the night that all my sweet friends sent me, so I am going to go through those and edit it wayyyyy down and will do a post on the show tomorrow (if I can get my act together).

So, Friday night was a big night.  Saturday morning came around and hit me. Hard.  My head wasn't feeling too great.  Eddie left at 5:30 for the beach and I never fell back asleep after he left.  Cal came in and got in my bed with me and was playing with my phone then said "smile!" and took this.  Thisis death warmed over with a head ache.

But it was a beautiful day, and we don't have time for headaches and hangovers in this house.  Andy had a soccer game at 10 and he was pumped!

I grabbed this picture with Lee during a water break- love their goofy selves.

Soon after Andy's game, it was Cal's turn! It was seriously such a gorgeous day- bright blue sky!

Cal had a great game-- his team is so much fun to watch.  They are all really "clicking" and passing to each other and communicating well while playing.  Sounds cheesy, but they really are getting it.

After the game I got a picture of these cuties-- love them so much!
Andy had to get in the picture too-- heaven forbid he miss a camera opportunity.

We all walked back to the cars together and caught this moment... Sally and I are lucky ladies.

Saturday was UNC's spring football game.  We decided to go (I forgot to mention Eddie took Bruce with him to the beach-- I wouldn't have been able to do all of this stuff if I had Bruce at home!).  We ran home after lunch and I told the boys to put on Carolina gear.  Cal came out in a UNC tshirt, a football jersey on top and a basketball jersey on top of that.  I pointed out that he didn't have to wear ALL of the UNC stuff that he owned (and that he might be hot...) so he removed the top jersey.
Then Andy came out.

Homie loves his basketball shorts.  And jersey.  And insisted on bringing the helmet.  I tried talking him out of it.  But then I thought, "what do I care what this child wears?!?! If it makes him happy, WHO CARES???" so we left.

We walked right in and found some seats-- several people complimented Andy on his shorts right off the bat.  He walked around like he owned the place while Cal watched the game.

Andy spotted these guys and made a bee line for them.  He was hugging him before I could get near for a picture.

Then Cal went in for a little hug...

Go Tarheels!

And as we were taking a picture, we spotted Brad-- so I quickly threw him in the picture too, despite the line that was forming up the aisle.... love these little tarheels!

They had music playing the entire time.  And everyone was enjoying it.  Especially Andy.

Then the music just really moved him.  (I am praying this video loads onto this darn blog so I can always have it....it makes me laugh so hard).  As my friend Katherine put it: "he is sooo your child...." #canigetanamen??

Sweet Jane wore the helmet with her cheerleading outfit and I am not sure there's ever been a cuter sight.

My cute momma with the boys.  We are so glad she came with us...or we went with her...? Either way, we were glad to be together!

Such a gorgeous day for some outside fun!

And then the most amazing thing happened.  My mom took the boys home after the football game and I had the whole house to myself.  I didn't know what to do.  Actually, I did.  I cranked up pandora, thong song station and ROCKED OUT while getting showered and dressed.  I was singing and dancing and totally enjoying myself.  Hank was passed out on the floor next to me and I think he was thrilled to have no one biting his ear or attempting to ride him.

I went to a friend's housewarming and then went downtown for another friends birthday dinners.  I was home by 10:30-- to my empty, quiet house.... and then..... I SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT. And it was glorious.  I was snoozing hard when Eddie called me at 7:40.  Should have moved my phone...or turned it off.  Or given it away.

It was seriously lovely though.  I got up and went to pick up the boys, but decided a trip to dunkin was necessary first.  Hank wanted to ride along, so he hung out in the backseat and was beyond thrilled when he got a munchkin.

I went to pick up the boys and my dad asked me if I would like his apple watch..... (!!!!!).  He wasn't a fan and decided it wasn't something he wanted... and I was just saying I would love one....! So I got me a new watch! Can't wait to wear it for a few days and see how I like it.  So far, it is good! I am anxious to wear it to a popup class to see how accurate the calorie burn is.  My polar has the heart rate monitor around my chest, so that feels more accurate to me... we will see!

When we got home, the chores started.  I had a long list of stuff to do!

Andy helped me change my tail light. Such a big helper.
And I cleaned out my car-- big time.  Vacuumed it all out, scrubbed dirt, the whole she-bang.  The boys got in it to "play" and both kept saying they couldn't believe how clean it was and they wanted to play in there for a while.  Whatever floats your boats, kiddos!

It was way too pretty of a day, so I got my 12th load of laundry going and we set out for a bike ride/Hank walk around the hood.  We were stopped in this picture, that's why Andy's helmet is off (just in case Dr. K reads this....and hi, Dr. K!).
We played outside some more, I cleaned out the garage and did a little reorganizing...which will last about 5 minutes, and then Cal had some homework to finish.

We went to dinner at firehouse (of course we did) where Cal ate a kids meal and a big bag of chips and declared that he was still hungry.  So he ate another whole sub.  Next time we won't order a kids meal... I think it's time he gets the full one.  And, wow.

Bed time for Andy couldn't come soon enough Sunday night.  He needed to go to bed around 6.  Because OHMYWORD he was being hard.  wow. wow. wow.  But, hey! Tomorrow is a new day!

The amount of pictures I took from Friday morning through Sunday is in sane.  I might have a problem.  Oh well.

Happy Monday!

Weekend Update: Masters!

This is a weekend update light on pictures, and frankly pretty boring- ! Eddie and I went to the Masters on Saturday and they are super strict on no phones/cameras there.  So, no pictures from the actual tournament.  But man, I wanted to take pictures.  It is beyond beautiful there.  The grass looks fake.  It's the only way to describe it.  It looks like carpet.
The weather was absolutely gorgeous too- super windy, but such a pretty day.  I debated what to wear.  The forecast was 62 and windy-- so that made it tricky.  Eddie suggested I just wear a pair of khaki pants.  Am I weird that I don't own a pair of khakis??

Anyway, Eddie headed down Thursday afternoon and went to the Masters with his dad on Friday.  Eddie's grandparents live in Pendleton, SC, which is about 2 hours away from Augusta.  We all met there Friday night.

Me and the boys loaded up and hit the road about 4:30... and we didn't arrive at the house until almost 10.  The "3.45" drive that Eddie promised wasn't so much.

The boys insisted on sitting in the 3rd row.  I downloaded an audio book (figured out a free way to do this! Post coming!), so I was thrilled to have them back there where they were quieter! And so happy...

Even though I asked (multiple times) for everyone to pee and poop before we left the house, Andy's miralax kicked in and he required a stop.

We got back on the road again and stopped at Chick fil a for dinner-- Andy sitting in the back with his grilled chicken salad--- odd kid.

Annnnd..... about 20 minutes later, he had to stop.  Again.  It was the nastiest bathroom ever and I was beyond grossed out by it all.  But when you gotta go, you gotta go.  Sigh.

We were stopping constantly and then the traffic on 85 looked like this.  For a long time.

It was a parking lot for miles and miles.  It took us a long time to get anywhere.  But then Andy fell asleep.

As soon as he fell asleep, my gas light came on.  Of course it did! I stopped and he stayed asleep the whole time.  Then Cal started saying he thought he was going to throw up. And 30 mins before we pulled in, Andy woke up and started crying. Screaming, really.  And maintained this until we got there.    And then 5.5 hours later, we arrived.

We were all beat when we got there and ready for bed.

Saturday morning, lala made the boys some waffles.  They gobbled them up!

Eddie and I pulled out of the driveway at 8am, heading to Augusta!

We had the BEST day together! We walked and walked and walked.  I ended up wearing shorts, a long sleeved shirt and a vest and I was totally comfortable all day.  We ate when we wanted to (omg, the pimento cheese sandwiches-- sweet dreams are made of these), drank whenever we wanted and walked everywhere.  I so enjoyed my day with my husband. We don't get these uninterrupted days very often and we both needed it!

My ticket to get in...
We stayed there until around 5 and then hit the road to head home-- another 5 hour drive! Eddie's dad drive the boys home earlier in the day... and I think he ended up stopped 4 times- all for poop! HA! Bless Andy's heart... I think he finally got it all cleared out.  phew.  And bless my father in law's heart-- I think he was worn out by bed time.  BUT, we got home and he smiled at us and said "I told the boys we could have a camp out, so they are both in my bed..." and Popy slept with both boys downstairs in the guest room....so I got to sleep through the night! And it was glorious! I haven't slept all night in so so long.

Sunday morning was spent getting things done around the house.  Vacuuming like crazy and so much laundry...! The boys had a fitting for a fashion show this week (!!!) so we did that and then I was able to meet my momma for lunch- such a treat!

The boys played "masters" outside while the big boys (Eddie and his dad) watched it inside while cooking ribs on the grill (I laugh as I type this because Eddie slept through 90% of the tournament...).

I think Bruce missed his boys... I walked in to find this in the playroom... (!!!!)

Some snuggles in between loads of laundry:

Playing "masters" in the yard- haha
Hope y'all had a great weekend!!!

Weekend Update

Welcome, Spring! Sunday was the first day of summer, but I FROZE my hind end off at flag football.... holy smokes it was cold out there! Didn't seem to slow down any kids though...

We decided to head to the beach for the weekend.  We hadn't been in a while and we were all craving it.  Clearly we love it down there-- it's good for the soul.

Eddie and Andy and Hank left Friday morning. I did popup and then had a hair appointment...I ran home and packed the car and got Bruce and went to check Cal out early from school.  We got a little snack and hit the road by 2:15.  I am listening to a new book and so far, I think I like it... I am not sure yet.  I'll report back on that later.

We arrived right around 5:00 and this was our view:

Tell me that wouldn't make you happy too...ahhhhh..... I swear to you, I drive over the bridge and take a huge breath- every single time I go over it- and I feel myself relax.

You know who else loves it there? Hankers:

He was running around like a puppy the whole weekend.  It makes my heart happy to see him so youthful and happy with some pep in his step.

The boys were reunited and they were SO excited to see each other- ha! Maybe we need to keep them apart more often! They played hard in the driveway until it was dinner time.
Bruce wasted NO time getting filthy.  He rolled in dirt and ran around like crazy for most of the weekend. But he was happy!

Over in the corner of my mom's kitchen at the beach, she said she always envisioned her grandkids sitting there and reading books while she cooked.  I looked over Saturday morning to see Nug curled up with a book-- I know this made my mom happy...it sure did make me smile!

Eddie took these three over to the beach via the golf cart for a little running around time.  One of these clowns went in the ocean....

Three houses down from my parents house is this house:

Which Eddie's parents are buying!!!!!! EEEEEEK! We are all SO excited to have them so close to us and another house we can visit down there.
We hadn't seen the house yet, so we went over to walk through it and we love it! So fun! The cheese ball in me can't wait to make memories with the boys there and at my parents house.  I have visions of the kids running back and forth between the houses and "sleepovers" and just so.much.fun!

The day was supposed to be a total wash out and when the rain started, we headed out to run a few errands.  We got out and hit a store or two and all of a sudden, the sun was breaking through and the rain was gone!

Eddie took Andy for a boat ride and when they came back, I seriously thought Bruce would get his head stuck in the porch watching them:

We spent the next HOURS out in the yard playing.  Their is a basketball court just down the street from our house and the boys wanted to shoot hoops so they drove their trucks over there with basketballs in the trunk:

They backed into some parking spots and shot hoops-- I could hear them from our house, laughing and talking a mile a minute to each other.  And then driving next to each other made me realize how close they will be driving REAL cars.... dear gracious.

The sun was shining and we were all outside soaking it up-- Bruce spent the majority of the day in the water and in the mud.  And repeat.  He was so happy...and so dirty!

Mom and I decided we better break out the bubbles...the day called for it! Love her and love spending time with her... and love bubbles too...

We got out the paddles for paddle ball and mom and I were playing with a tennis ball while the dogs jumped up in the middle of us and the boys were our ball boys, running after every ball that went awry.  This went on for a while and I swear, the dogs were just going to collapse, they were running so hard!
Finally, the boys decided they wanted to play with us, so there went our game- haha.  Cal wanted to play doubles with me... I will go ahead and say he's my favorite doubles partner.

We decided to take our boys and our bubbles for a golf cart ride! It was a beautiful night-- and the setting sun made it a little chillier....

We did a loop around the hood-- Henry wanted in the selfie action too.

We came home and ate and got the kids in bed- they were SPENT.  And, frankly, I had a big day with them and I was ready for them to go to bed too.... just sayin.....
They shared a bed on this trip and when I went to check on them, this is how they were:
Andy has one leg off his bed and Cal is alllll over the place.  Andy ended up falling out of bed around 11.  Of course he did.

Sunday morning we woke up and it was chilly out! A cold front blew in and it was COLD! I made some monkey bread....

and we packed up cars and headed home.  I took both boys with me and they were really good in the car for the most part.  I tuned them out to listen to my book (I am obsessed with audio books for car trips...!) and we made it home in record time.

As we were pulling into town, I remembered flag football! We went in the house and carried everything in and then the boys changed clothes and we headed right back out to football! It was the last game of the season so there was an awards "ceremony" afterwards.  It was C-O-L-D out there and my feet didn't thaw out until late Sunday night... It was 43, but it was a damp 43... not to mention it was 85 last week...!

Here are the BULLDOGS!

They each got a trophy and if they hadn't received a sportsmanship trophy throughout the season (C and A had not), they got their medal too-- and they were pumped!

We have loved loved loved flag football and we can't wait to play again! It was such a positive experience for these two crazies.  I am glad they loved it!
One more week until vacation-- and I can't wait! I am starting to make packing lists... it seems never ending! Oh, and I still have to lose 10 pounds for the trip... riiiiiight.......
