Weekend Update! Ballin'

Such a fun weekend!! Warmer weather is coming and with that will bring more beach trips, which we are thrilled about, but we are also really enjoying our busy weekends here too. 

My parents had my brother's kids for the weekend so we all went over to their house Friday night for dinner.  Talk about CHAOS...! Holy cow, it was loud and crazy! We ate and headed home by 7.  It is always nice for the cousins to see each other though!

Saturday morning we were up early for Cal's 8am game.  Andy did his hair and was ready to go!

Sweet Laura sent me this picture of the two brothers watching the game- love their smiles. 

I missed his game because I was teaching KIDSPOP during that time! 

We all met back at the house and then soon thereafter, we loaded up to head out to Andy's game.  The Red Dragons had another great game.    #undefeated

 One of the moms overheard the other team's coach say "where did these guys come from? They are like an AAU team." Another mom commented that knowing the difference between offense and defense gives us a leg up-- hahahaha

It was the second to last game to medals were handed out-- Andy was thrilled.  He has watched his brother get one and he was pumped to actually get his own-- not one that he has stolen when Cal isn't looking...

After the game, we came home and I got to work baking cookies... Our buddy Will turned 15 and was having around 15 of his buddies over to his house to watch the Carolina game.  I offered my cookies (which, I know are a favorite of his) and he jumped all over the idea.  

We delivered 36 cookies to Will and his buddies and we had to get a picture with the birthday boy.

We went to the club for the BIG UNC/dook game and we had so much fun! Everyone came with their kids and they put us all in a room with a huge flat screen.  Everyone had a lot of fun and...

 UNC won!!!! WOOOOOHOOOOOOOO! It was such a great game and then ending had me about sick to my stomach.  So much fun watching with a big group of friends. 
They probably could have heard us screaming in Durham....

My father in law has a small love of dook that we will not discuss on here, but he was trying to smack talk me the whole game.  It was hilarious-- so after the game, Cal put on his Davidson sweatshirt (Poppy's alma mater) and we sent him this picture and told him to just focus on Davidson- hahaa

We got home late and got the kids in bed and after changing into comfy clothes, the dogs crawled right into my lap.  I sat on the floor loving on them for a while...mainly because I couldn't get up, but also because it was sweet. 

Sunday morning was slow moving... I may or may not have been slightly hungover.... holy margarita. I got myself moving and did a bunch of housework.  We had loads of laundry to do, loads of dog hair to vacuum up and a ton of stuff that just needed to be sorted/thrown away.

I also gave the boys bathroom a little attention.  We bought the below shower curtain and mat when I was pregnant with Andy... it was time to upgrade a little.  The shower curtain has been peed on-- a lot, and I can't even think about that mat.  Obviously we have washed it a bunch, but it just looks gross now.  

I got the curtain and mat at Target and after I hung it up, Andy walked in and covered his mouth and said "oh, mommy! It is just amazing! I love it so much!" HAHAHAHA Guess a new one was needed-- great reaction from him!

While I was going around the house like a tornado, the boys curled up on Cal's bed to have a little iPad time together.  This led to a massive fight, but it was super sweet for a few minutes.  

After them being lazy and me getting junk done, it was time to head to football. It turned out to be a gorgeous day- maybe slightly chilly, but the sun felt great.

The boys just eat this stuff up.  I say it every week, I know I do.  They just love playing flag football.  And I love seeing them so happy!

The rest of our weekend involved yard work and me taking a looooong bath listening to my book.  Peace! I needed it!

Friday FAVES

Here we go!!! Some random goodness for the week...

//1// K I N D E R GA R T E N  L O V E
Most of what Cal brings home from school is heading to the recycling bin pretty fast-- don't get me wrong, I love to see what he does at school, but there is no way I can keep it all...they bring a LOT of stuff home!

But this week, this came home:

I still threw it away.  But I did love it before I tossed it.  They are working on paragraph writing (holla, kindergarten...!) and they make a "thought map" before turning it into sentences.  Cal's paragraph after this map was funny, but what I really like the most is his drawing of me.  I am choosing to believe he gave me massive boobies and not a massive gut.  #eitherway I also love that he loves trees.  That is so random- but I guess they were talking about trees in school and he learned that they help him breath- hold up.  Cal now wants to plant trees errrrrwhere.  Nice work, kindergarten.  I am digging it.

//2// W O R L D  M A R K E T
I ran by World Market the other day to get a few last minute birthday presents for some friends (and truth be told, I needed to get them something on a Sunday morning and they opened at 10, so I went there).  I could have bought a TON of things in there! #ifihadamilliondollars I didn't realize all the cuteness they had-- and the jewelry! Oh, the jewelry! I am going to make a trip back there before our Spring Break vacation to get a few more fun pieces and maybe a cover up...or other stuff...

These earrings came home with me:

Their bracelets were awesome too- I didn't get this one, but I am thinking I might need to go back for it.  Love the clasp:

I bought a really fun bracelet that isn't on the website. I will keep watching to see if I can find it.

I've always known they have great furniture and other finds at World Market-- all of their other stuff is just as great! I am sure I am late to this game though...

The sweet comments about our crazy outfits for Dr. Suess's birthday this week were so kind and totally a favorite of mine this week.  We are total geeks, but being a geek makes this "job" even more fun.  And seeing our kiddos faces as they walked in and we were dressed like this totally makes being a nerd worth it!

 Andy woke up, came down the hall and curled up...on Hank.  I don't know if he thought Hank was his pillow or what... but he fell sound asleep on Hankers. 

 Bless their hearts. I love this dog with my whole heart.  And the boy too-- I love him too.

Life Lately...and some randomness

Life is about to get even MORE crazy, if that's even possible.  Soccer is starting up, tennis is back in action, and basketball and football aren't over quite yet.  Bring on the activities! And the chaos...!

I do love having an active household, even if that means we are constantly going going going.

It is no secret to this blog: Andy is really really really bad at sleeping.  I wrote in our weekend update about him waking up super early on Sunday morning in a crank-tastic mood.  Well, he was on our floor and wouldn't be quiet.  He was whimpering that he was cold. And then that he was hot.  And then that he had to pee, but didn't want to get up.  This started at 5:45 and didn't stop for a long time.  We were OVER it. 

We decided to work on his sleep habits (again).  I decided I would walk him back down the hall and put him in his bed and sit there with him until he falls back asleep again.  We tried it Sunday night and I think I probably slept all of 3 hours total.  It was ROUGH.  At 4:45, I finally just told him to get on the floor and go to sleep- I couldn't take it any more, hahaha. 

I was soooome kind of tired Monday.  Basically a zombie for most of the morning.  After popup and walking the dogs, I got Andy and we both curled up on the couch for some rest and snuggles- we never do this, and it was clear we both needed it. 

The dogs needed it too-- everyone was passed out.  I didn't doze off, but just sitting there and resting was goooood for me and my mental health.  And him being so sweet like this makes me not mad at him for being the world's worst sleeper.  

 Bruce needed a little love and Andy was willing to give it to him.  They love each other so much.

But resting doesn't last long around here.  We were out playing basketball in no time. 

 And football. Also football. 

 Cal is reading everything- everywhere.  It is so fun, and also a little exhausting- haha.  I just ordered him the Magic Treehouse series... hoping he will get into them.  Right now, it is still hard to get him to sit still long enough to read them.  I think we will need to read them together at first, which I am excited about! Here he is reading in the kitchen right when the books arrived. 

We were getting ready to go to soccer and I glanced out the upstairs front window- always playing-- thankful these two have each other! 

Whenever I can't find Bruce, it is a safe bet, he's near Andy.  I am pretty sure Andy drives him crazy, but he tolerates it... thank goodness.  They are pretty tight buddies!

Dr. Seuss's birthday is Wednesday of this week, so on Tuesday, we celebrated in preschool.  I have SO much fun doing this crazy little job with this sweet friend.  Our days are wild and loud and funny and unpredictable and hilarious and frustrating and ridiculous and everything else in between-- but we really and truly love working together and with these kids.  Lucky lucky me!

Speaking of lucky me- apparently Tuesday was my HALF BIRTHDAY! I would have never known that-- but my mouse class did and they all brought in hand made cards and goodies for me-- talk about a treat! We are not in school for my actual birthday, so they spoiled me on my half day...and it was awesome!


After school Tuesday, Andy had a play date with Brady! He is on our basketball team and Andy has grown fond of him.  They invited Andy over there, but I offered to have them here so Brady's mom could have some quiet during his little sibling's nap time.  

We are going to Mexico in ONE MONTH and I am super excited.  I can't stop thinking about this trip and I am making lists right and left of things to get-- not that I NEED anything.  I did pick up a few new bathing suits.  And I might need to get a few other things...

I am crushing on this right now:

 ....not sure I can justify the price (but I do have a gift card!!!).

I am about to order this one (at only $25, it's a steal). I think it would be perfect for flying home-- throw on a jean jacket and be good to go!

I really like this cover up too... clearly, I have a lot of things I like!

Most cover ups I love are over $100 and I just can't bring myself to do that. 

I do think I am going to order this shirt though- I have a gift card and think this shirt is super cute. 

I also need a hat.  I wear a baseball hat 99% of the time, and I would like a more "grown up" hat.  Not sure I am able to pull off a fedora... but I kind of want to try... maybe I am better for a big floppy hat? That's also on my list-- find a hat! What kind of hat do y'all wear when in the sun?

Also on my list (this post has gone from a LIFE LATELY post to a random rambling inside my brain post), I need to see what still fits the boys-- they both have had HUGE growth spurts lately, especially Cal and I am a little worried none of his warmer clothes will fit him. 

A trip to the outlets might be in my near future...!

So that's a look at life lately! I have a pork shoulder in the dutch oven and it smells AH-MAZING.  I bought a packet in the grocery store that looks like this one:

 but ours is called Smokey Pulled Pork Slow Cook Sauce-- they didn't have that one on the site.  Our whole house smells incredible.  I will be sure to report back if it tastes good at all...


That is life lately! Loving the weather and the warm sunshine.  Hope it sticks around for a while!
