We got home Thursday night from a wonderful trip to Turks and Caicos with the family. It was a week full of laughs and memory making, which I love! Here is part one of the trip:
We left Friday the 28th, suuuuuuper early in the morning. We were all zombies at the airport. Thank goodness we got there when we did; the line to get into security came all the way around and out the entrance, and then down the entire corridor, around the check in machines. Talk about crazy. We made it with plenty of time.
We made it....but our flight did not. Ugh.
Our flight coming in to Raleigh was delayed, so we were delayed taking
off. So we missed our connection in Atlanta. No good. There wasn't
another flight we could get on, so we had to spend the night in
Atlanta. #thanksdelta.
Waiting during our delay with fingers crossed we could still make connection....
On the first flight-- still smiling!
We weren't able to make the connecting flight, so we made our way to the delta counter in the airport to arrange for a hotel room for the night. The boys were SO SO SO good and patient during all of this. I am not even sarcastic. Just ignore the dirty floor they are sprawled all over.
Then we hopped on the tram--
...rode the escalator up....
and walked out to the place to wait for the hotel shuttle. This is where everyone's patience was tested. It took over an hour for the shuttle to get to us. We should have just gotten in a cab, but every time we would call the hotel, they would assure us the guy was on his way. And we didn't want to have him come and us not be there.... so we sat and we waited.
We got to our hotel room and it wasn't the nicest place we have ever stayed.... I mean-- they provided ear plugs......
We dropped our bags (just our carry ons-- we left our checked luggage at the airport....scary, right? But we were assured it was easier to just keep it there in queue for the flight than to go find it, bring it up and then have to recheck it the following day), and then we got in an uber to go to the Atlanta Aquarium.
It was beautiful!
We traveled the whole thing--
and loved it!
We love swedish fish too....
We saw a show with the seals-
and a whole bunch of sharks!
These two were SUCH troopers. I was waiting for the meltdown to occur. It came later, haha
Loved all the tunnels that went through the different exhibits.
The balluga whale was super cool to see.
We saw a 4D movie, which was awesome-- the seats vibrated and snow fell from the ceiling and lots of other fun effects.
The next morning, bright and early, we were up and heading to the airport. We had to catch the 6am shuttle back there and we weren't missing it!
We watched the sun rise from our gate--
And then as we got on board (ON TIME), momma poured herself a big ol bloody mary: ahhhhhhhh
My seat mate was a happy boy to be on his way!
This is the lobby as you walk in to the hotel: WE MADE IT!!!!
It took us less than 15 minutes to get to our room, drop everything (shockingly, all bags made it) and get into this water:
obsessed with this picture!
I provided a drink service to our people:
So, the first time we came to Turks 5 years ago, we met the Gonso family-- well, the parents. She was pregnant with her third. We totally hit it off and had THE best time with them. We have since traveled with them on other trips and introduced the kids a few trips ago. We've done Aruba and Mexico with the entire family and now this one. The kids get along SO SO well. Andy and Avery are the sweetest things ever together. Often the big boys would be playing rough, so Andy would just go over and sit with Avery. It was precious.
We got showered up and ready for dinner! That night we were eating outside, so we thought sunglasses were needed.
For us too!
Family pic in Turks!!!
All of the adults! Love this crew so much. We have the best time traveling together-- Andrea and I are like sisters and laugh a LOT.
Our kiddos. I am so thankful they got to be together on this trip. They are already asking when we will be able to see each other again.
Basically the cutest.
And that, wraps up our first day in Turks!!! And Atlanta! ha!
