Weekend Update
I LOVE fall! Clearly I am a fan of North Carolina, and I honestly think fall is THE prettiest time to be in Carolina! The sky is the most vibrant shade of blue you can imagine and the weather is just perfect-- sunny and warm, but no humidity. It's cool in the morning and then warm in the afternoon. I love everything about FALL. We spent the weekend enjoying the fall weather!
Friday after school the boys were playing a little football...a power ranger with a helmet and Cal wearing an army helmet... never dull around here!
Eddie took Cal to the fair Friday afternoon. They like to go see the monster truck show and demolition derby and that is just more than Andy can take. So Andy and I stayed back and went to the club for Andy to do Kids Club! All the kids wore uniforms and he was excited to wear his power rangers out of the house. He originally tied on a Jake Pirate bandana...
And then switched to a spiderman mask... He couldn't find the power rander mask and thought spidey was the next best thing. (I love this picture below...he looks so much like Cal....sitting and playing football guys...something he rarely gets to do with Cal around...)
All set to head into the club!
He was all smiles at pick up too-- he had a big time!!!
He is not the only one who had a big time!
Eddie and I texted pictures back and forth to each other of what we were doing (we are weird like that...?).
Cal rode the big super slide....
....and ate some corn.....
...and some cotton candy.....
And then this happened on the way home...
Everyone had a HUGE night and Andy was thrilled he didn't have to go listen to the loud noises.
Saturday morning we had a soccer game and it was a BEAUTIFUL morning! Both boys had a blast playing-- and Andy got into too. He is pretty hit or miss at games. Usually if he gets a taste of the ball, he will do pretty well for the rest of the game. But if he is slow to get the ball, or he just isn't feeling it, he just kind of stands in the middle of the field...not doing much. But this week, he did great! I was proud of him! And of course, Cal loves it and plays hard. He has the best time playing with his friends. He could stay out there for hours playing and never get bored.
I loved this picture with a bunch of toe heads:
Saturday night, we had a Halloween party...which means COSTUMES!
In case you can't tell, I was a pinata and Eddie was Uncle Sy (no clue how to spell his name).
Our babysitter took the pics and then the boys ran in to get in the shot too- ha! Andy wanted a costume on too...
The party was SO much fun and everyone was very "into" dressing up. Costume parties are only fun when everyone gets excited and into it. The boys were all SUPER on board, which made it even more fun!
I took about 300 pictures at the party. Seriously. I was enjoying myself! There were some GREAT costumes there!
When scrolling through the pictures from the night, there are about 80 of me and Sally. In some we are smiling, in most we are making stupid faces. I love them all...and I crack up each time I look at them!
I made my costume, and Sara, the loofah, made hers as well! I took pictures as I made mine so I might to a post on how I made it...if for no other reason than just for me to remember in the future!
The three of us met in play group when our boys were all about 3 months old....and now they are all FIVE!!!! Love them...
We had a big time Saturday night. And I do mean BIG time. But, it's funny...the boys DO NOT CARE if we have a big time or not-- they are up and ready to go EARLY. Here they are, playing tackle football in the driveway at 6:30am. They were up before this, but I wouldn't let them go out until we could see the sun. Eddie apparently had a really REALLY big time because he slept in and then took an immediate nap on the couch. I wasn't bitter at all! hahahaha
The country club has a big Fall Fest every year and for whatever reason, this was the first year we were able to attend. The boys had a BLAST! There are a ton of bounce houses and gigantic slides and more fun than they could know what to do with!
We were there for a few hours and then headed home for a quick change so Cal and I could head to swim clinic. They timed them on Sunday (they do once a month) and Cal dropped some time, so he was excited. They swam all 4 strokes-- I had no clue he could do breast and butterfly, but he did them...!
When I came home, I had to unload the dishwasher (of course! it never ends, huh??) and I had a really cute little helper.... he is getting so big. Seriously.
And, one last picture from Fall Fest!
It was a nice weekend with my family and friends. They make me feel so blessed!

I am so behind.
I am a blogger slacker lately. I know I am. I was called out last night (Hi, Elizabeth!) about my lack of posting in the past few weeks.
Life is crazy right now. It is great- don't get me wrong! But it is straight up crazy.
Between teaching preschool and popup and running the boys to soccer and tennis and swim practice and dealing with a puppy and a dog....I am flat out BUSY!
I love doing everything I am doing and I don't want to drop anything-- so I am working hard on finding the balance to manage it all. I am surviving it so far! ha!
When I say surviving, I mean, everyone is fed 3 meals a day and the boys are clean when they go to bed. I am staying up with the laundry, so there's that! But, I am not staying up with the blogging. I will get better.... just gotta find that balance!
A few notes to make:
*Both boys had a quick little sickness- a fever that was quick, but wiped them out. Andy had his Friday night and Cal got his Monday at school
*I have subbed in Cal's class a few times this year and I am amazed at all he is learning. He is ready to test out of his big "skill" (they have a bunch of skills to master this year): saying his full name, street address and phone number.
*Andy still has poop issues....but all of a sudden, he likes going at school. SERIOUSLY?? The kid refuses to poop in the privacy of our nice bathroom, but likes to go with the door wide open to his classroom? I mean, whatever works, I guess, but seriously, nug?? He has gone 2 times this week at school-- which is more than he does at home. GO FIGURE!
*On the above note, I need to give his teacher an amazing Christmas gift. Ideas are welcome.
*Despite the above note, Andy seems to be the ladies man in his class. His teacher told me the other day that he sat at a table with 3 girls and another boy during snack and the girls had a serious discussion about which one got to be Andy's girlfriend for the day. She said he just sat there smiling. Wait until he sh*ts in the classroom... they will solve that debate!
*No one sleeps through the night here. Have I ever mentioned that?? None of them. NONE.
*Eddie's sister's husband (follow that??), Tommy, has just accepted a job here....!!!! We are thrilled they will be moving here!!!! He came out for an interview and it went really well and they offered him the job! YAY YAY YAY! I have also been helping them with the apartment search since they live in California and need someone here to do some leg work for them. We can NOT wait to have more family close!!!
And I will end with this-- a good little reminder for us each day!

#carriedaway: week 37
Week 37:
Day 273: shirts vs. skins at soccer
Day 274: one little blonde boy singing to another little blonde boy.
Day 275: just another day! Brother on Hank's bed reading a football book in a laundry basket. Because why not?
Day 276: a special afternoon trip with grandpa!
Day 277: happiness in the blue zone.
Day 278: this little guy gave us a scare last night. After watching him swallow a sock, he headed to the doggie ER. They got him to vomit...and 4 socks came out. !!!! He's lucky he's cute!
Day 279: the boys practicing tennis in the house was more than Hank (and momma) could take.

Pumpkin Patch Fun
On Sunday we made the trek to the big pumpkin patch! We have loved going to Hillridge Farms and were looking forward to going again this year. On Saturday it was sunny and HOT...so when we woke up to drizzly and cold, it really felt like fall!
It takes close to 45 minutes to get to the farm, and the boys were getting antsy in the car so we took some selfies together:
When we got there, the misting was a little heavier, but it wasn't going to stop our fun!
It was way too chilly for the boys to be in shorts, but seriously, it didn't bother them one bit! They would wear shorts year round I think.
We immediately went to the giant slide because there wasn't much of a line. I figured Andy would freak out, but as we got to the top, he turned around and said "I really want to go first, okay?" and he did! He loved it and wanted to go again and again and again!
Waiting with my boys...
Eddie went down the slide too- the boys didn't want to ride with us so we each rode separately-- kind of funny to see parents riding down solo- haha
Andy looked so little at the top of the slide! Ignore the sign saying they must be 4 to ride without an adult...
Sweet Tommy came with us...not that we gave him a choice! HA! And the boys had so much fun with him. What a good sport!
We had to take pics in front of the measuring pumpkin....can't remember if we did this last year (what kind of a mom am I??). I will go back and look at last year's post.
And of course we rode the train! Brad rode with us, but I didn't get a good non-blurry picture of all three boys.
After the train, the rain started falling a bit heavier. The boys were dying to jump on the big bounce pillow. We let them, even though the sign said "no jumping when wet. It is not safe." They jumped for a few minutes and were over it. The rain was falling and we were getting cold.
We left after the bounce pillow-- Andy wasn't thrilled with the idea of leaving, but the screaming didn't last for long....! The boys were soaked so they rode home without shorts on. As soon as we got home, Cal got comfy and snuggled up on the couch with Tommy to watch some football.
It was a perfect fall weekend!!!
Here is the post from last year's trip. It was a beautiful day when we went last year! Nothing like this year! But still equally fun!
