First Hair Cut!

We were looong over due for a hair cut! Cal's hair has been so thin, we haven't given him one yet, but his curls in the back were looking more like a rat tail/mullet, so it was time to get a little trimming. (Not to mention a pilot on one of our flights on the way home asked us if our little girl was cold. HE was wearing navy blue pants and sneakers and a white shirt. seriously???) Eddie's mom made us promise to not cut his hair until after the trip because she wanted to see the curls one more time.

I made an appointment for noon and tried to take a few "before" shots.  We went to get in the car to go to the place and my car battery was dead :( .  We have a jumper here that you can hook up to the house, so I jumped my car and had to let it sit for a while to charge so I could make it to Autozone to get a new battery! While we were waiting, Cal took a digger and got a nice little mark on his forehead (what else is new?!).

Here are some BEFORE pictures:

sweet curls

Don't make me do this!!!!!!!! (see the baby bump?)

MESS!

We went to Peek-A-Do children's salon: it was AWESOME!  If you live in the area and are looking for a place to get your kids hair cut, this place was wonderful!  We had Donna and I can't say enough good things about her.  She was excellent with Cal.

Here are some pictures DURING:

Sitting in the car-- he held onto the wheel the entire time :) Here he is checking out Miss Donna-- she was talking to him the entire time- he loved it!  And how crazy is his hair in this picture?  A cut was LONG over due!

Ummm, Momma?  What are you doing to me??

Driving the car!!!

Each station had its own DVD player

looking a little nervous!

The finishing touches!  Cal decided he was done with the cape :)
And, a few AFTER shots once we got home...

he looks so old to me!

this was still in the chair

too busy playing to look at the camera

We saved some of the curls in a plastic baggie-- Eddie's grandmother has a collection of curls from her two boys and their kids, and now their grandkids too!  I am going to mail her a few locks (that sounds a little stalker-ish!).

And here is a video I took of Cal after his nap after getting his hair cut....

Half way there!

ummm...are you serious??? I am 20 weeks pregnant today, and since I will be having a c-section at around 39 weeks, technically, I am over halfway there.  WOAH.

I will post a pic later of the belly that all of a sudden seems to have POPPED!

Can't wait to meet this little one!  Oh, and I think we have decided on a name...I'll share that one later too!

Rose Bowl!!!!

WHAT AN AMAZING WAY TO END THE FROG'S SEASON!!!!

We flew out on Christmas afternoon and landed in LA at 11:30 PST, which is 2:30 am on the east coast.  Cal was AWESOME flying, and I am contemplating buying stock in children's benadryl...

Here are some of the pictures, with ALL of them up on MobileMe.  It's hard to share them all on blogger.  You can click on the picture for a bigger shot of it, if you need to see it....I mean, don't you want to???

Here is a recap of the events:

On the 26th, we got up early to catch a bus to Disneyland!  We were there early, and the park wasn't too crowded.  Jenny and Cecilia (the cute girl in the middle of the pic below and the cutie in the stroller next to Cal) joined us and we were SO glad they did!  Cecilia loves all things Disney so it was really fun to watch her enjoy all of her favorites.

Arriving in Disneyland!!
Cal enjoyed seeing everyone and just taking in the sounds, lights, people...everything!  We took him on the carousal first and Eddie stayed off to take pictures, then he rode the Dumbo with his daddy and I took pictures of them.  He was a happy boy on the rides!
Jenny, Cecilia, Patty and Cal waiting to get to see Minnie Mouse!  And Cal taking a little snooze on Poppy's shoulder, waiting to ride It's a Small World:
Cecilia liked Minnie a little more than Cal did :)

Cal with number 14, Andy Dalton.  He is the quarterback for TCU and was the MVP of the Rose Bowl game.  He is also unbelievably nice.  He was more than willing to hold a stinky baby and smile.  We are big fans :)
We went out to Runyon Canyon one morning to see the view-- it really was amazing!  And we had a great day for it!
The Hollywood sign in the background and Cal with each of us

At the Santa Monica pier: Cal was OBSESSED with the birds and was screaming and pointing them out to everyone!
We got to do a behind the scenes Rose Bowl tour of the stadium, locker rooms, and press box-- it was beyond special and amazing!
walking into the Rose Bowl!

TCU will have their name on the 2011 plaque, which will be up there FOREVER...amazing!

In the TCU locker room and in the tunnel leaving the locker room

looking down at the field from the press box

This was so crazy...Eddie was playing golf at a course right next to the Rose Bowl on the day we did the tour.  I looked out at this course when we were in the press box and saw him!  What are the chances???  haha-- had to take a pic!

We toured where the floats are made for the Rose Bowl parade.  Everything on the floats has to either BE alive, or was ONCE alive.  The things they come up with for the floats are amazing!

Carrie and Tricia are excited!!!
Cal was such a trooper and then just crashed on my shoulder :)
We went to the Grove one day to do a little shopping!
Some pictures with the fountain
Cal with his sweet sweet Aunts!  He loves them!
 IT'S GAME DAY!!!!!

We took some pictures in the hotel room before leaving...

At the stadium :)

On the field after the game!!!  AHHHHH!!!

GO FROGS!!!!!!

We left the following day at 10 at night and took the red eye home.  Cal slept great, mom and dad, not so much!  We were worn out yesterday and I had a TON of laundry to do...it was never ending!  We are starting to get back into a routine, although Cal seems to still be on West Coast time.  He took a 5 hour nap yesterday and wouldn't go down until 9:00 last night.  He slept until 9 this morning though! haha

I am SO SO SO proud of my father-in-law and his team.  This was his first game that he could coach since the heart attack, so there were a LOT of emotions all around.  When the two point conversion was blocked by Tank Carder to basically win the game, we all burst into tears....tears were flowing the whole night!

Thanks for reading this far down!!! :)

GO FROGS!

Christmas!

I am feeling SO far behind in my postings!  We've  been in California for the past 10 days (update next!), so I am just catching my breath now...

My last post was about Cal having the stomach bug.  He had it on Tuesday the 21st, Wednesday, Eddie got home, and Thursday, I got the bug!  I had a million things to do to get ready to go, but I could not pick my head up.  Eddie needed to hurry back to his office to get things in order for our long trip so he called my mom (THANK GOD FOR MY MOM!!!!), who drove over and picked up the wild child so he could play over there.

I had a million and 5 things to do to get ready for the holidays and our trip, but there was NO moving on my behalf!  Cal had fun with my mom and came home around 4:00 going full speed ahead.  I was not feeling 100% yet, so thankfully Eddie got home at a decent hour to help out.

By Thursday morning, I was feeling fine, so I got up early and Cal and I hit the ground running to make up for lost time from the day before.  Thursday afternoon came and Eddie got home from work around 6 and sat down to eat dinner and he was NOT feeling well.  Next thing we know...HE has the bug!  I was counting on him to do a bunch of things on Friday for the last (last!) minute things, so I spent Friday about to go insane trying to pack (as Cal unpacked me), cleaning the house (God forbid we have a showing while we are in CA!), and taking Hank to camp, etc, etc, etc.... it was QUITE the day!!!

Friday morning, Christmas Eve, I call my parents house, and my dad lets me know that my mom has been getting sick all morning.  She swore she would be fine to go to church (our tradition) and dinner that night.  Well, she wasn't...she got sicker as the day went on, and then my dad got it too!  This thing spreads quickly!!!!  Eddie and I were going to continue on with our Christmas Eve traditions, but he wasn't 100% still, and Cal's little bum was a little raw (sorry-- TMI) from his diapers when he had the bug, so sitting still wasn't going to be easy.  SO, Christmas Eve was SUPER quiet and casual in our house.  I was disappointed, but there really wasn't anything I could do about it.  I wasn't going to take Cal to church by myself and leave Eddie home by himself....so, we did the romantic thing: got some Wendy's and watched Christmas Vacation....

Christmas morning everyone woke up feeling great: PHEW!  My parents were wayyyyy too good to Cal!  He had a blast opening gifts and shredding the paper.  Here are two pictures from the morning:

A new chair and a HUGE dog that he can climb on and "ride" like he does Hank! He loves that chair! He also got a bunch of toys and an adorable rocking horse (next to the chair in the above pic).

Riding the rocking horse-- so happy!!!

After we opened presents, we put Cal down for a nap at my parents and we flew home to pack.  We headed to the airport at 1:00 and were not packed 100% yet....! It was a rushed morning, but enjoyable nonetheless :)

It was a wonderful Christmas and we are so blessed and have SO much to look forward to in 2011!!!

Stomach Bug

We have been VERY lucky so far with Cal not getting the stomach bug. It's been going around so we knew is was just a matter of time.... Eddie went out of town yesterday so Cal, Hank and I were holding down the fort here.

My mom had a gingerbread house making party last night and I didn't want to get a sitter while I was there, so I took Cal and put him down in her crib and then woke him up and brought him home to go back to sleep.  He is reallllly good about this and always goes right back down.

When I carried him downstairs at my parents' house last night, my dad kissed his head and said he felt a little warm to him.  I thought it was just from where his face had been jammed into the bumper of my mom's crib!  We got home and he went straight down without even a fuss.

At 2:45 this morning, he cried out, but he does that often...sometimes he has a bad dream or he can't find his paci, etc... but this time, it was a real pathetic kind of cry.  It kept going, so at 3, I went in to his room to help him find the paci.  I never turned on a light, just reached my hand into the crib and felt around.  And I felt some wetness.  Cal had thrown up in his crib and was COVERED head to toe in it! I pulled him out of the crib and changed his jammies and used a wipe to wipe down the rest of him-- big mistake.  The smell was unbearable!

I brought him in bed with me and he snuggled on my chest and was so sweet and cozy and then looked up and me and puked all over my shirt.  I sat up even more to figure out what to do when he puked all over my bed.  I had a burp cloth nearby in case this happened, and he hit that, but it went all over the bed too.  The problem is, babies don't know where to puke, they just know they are going to!  His natural instinct is to come to me when he's hurt or not feeling well, so I got the brunt of most of the puke!

Then the challenge was to hold a crying, puking baby while changing the crib sheet.  Crib sheets are a pain to change without someone in your arms...add the puking, crying baby and you have yourself a problem!  I got that changed and then put him down to rest for a few minutes and he slept for about 20 minutes and woke himself up puking again....it was awful!  Poor thing!  This time merited a bath.

We came downstairs after the bath and he grabbed a sippy cup of water, dehydrated I am sure, and chugged it.  He threw the cup down after and came running over to me....and puked.  On me.  Again.  Poor poor little guy!

He was exhausted at 8 and ready for a nap, so I put on the freshly washed crib sheet and he went down great.  He slept for about an hour and I could hear him whimpering upstairs.  When I got about 10 stairs from the top, I could smell the worst smell EVER.  I will spare you the details, but let's just say it was now coming out BOTH ends, and this was just as liquid.... time for another bath!!!

After this bath, he did seem to be feeling a tad better...

As of 1:45, he has not thrown up since this morning around 7:45....fingers crossed that the worst of it is over!  My mom is coming over in about an hour with some goodies for us: lunch for me! and some spray disinfectant to get my house germ free.  The LAST thing we need is for us to be sick before we head out to California!

And OF COURSE, this happens the day AFTER our visit to the doctor!  Not that I would want to take him there today sick, but it would be nice to know what on earth to do to help the kid!  Someone on facebook mentioned the BRAT diet: bananas, rice, apple sauce, and toast.  We've done the banana and the toast.  We will see how he is when he wakes up from his nap!!!

Hope you all are feeling well!!!  I am off to wash my hands....again!

Tomorrow

We have a showing tomorrow...! This is the first one in a while, and I am VERY excited that we have someone coming (everyone says that lookers this time of year are serious), but you would not believe the state of my house right now.  It looks like a tornado came through and hit every room twice.

Instead of cleaning my house top to bottom (like I soooo should), I have been playing with the little guy, and doing this instead....

I can't help it.  I tried to start cleaning while he was still up and he thought it was SO fun to take out everything I was putting away.  He was taking his toys and throwing them at Hank.  I have *stuff* in every room on the floor.

Cal just went over to my nativity scene (a wedding gift), and shook the table back and forth as hard as he could and one of my wise men fell and broke.  I was so sad, but it was my own fault.  He knew right away that he shouldn't have touched it and walked to the stairs saying "night night".  He was ready to put himself to bed! HA!

Off to clean clean clean (which Eddie thinks is a waste of time to do today since the showing isn't until 2:30 tomorrow-- he thinks that gives Cal a LOT of time to wreck havoc between now and then.....).

Playing catch up

So much has been going on and I have been so bad about updating the blog, so I am trying to catch up today while the weather is nasty :)

Here are some pictures from the past few weeks.  We are certainly enjoying Cal this time of year!!!
